Women’s Hoops Central: Presbyterian vs Winthrop

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's basketball team will close out their four-game home stand on Wednesday, January 29 at 6:30 p.m. as they take on the Winthrop Eagles in Templeton.

NATIONAL GIRLS & WOMEN IN SPORTS NIGHT
Wednesday, February 5 is National Girls and Women in Sports day. Children 12 and under will be granted free admission if they wear their favorite sports jersey. At halftime the Presbyterian College Athletic Department will be recognizing all of the school's women's sports programs.

LAST TIME OUT
The Blue Hose fell to Radford on Saturday despite Kishyah Anderson picking up her 13th double-figure scoring performance of the season. She posted 17 points and eight rebounds. The team took 28 points in the paint, won the rebound battle 41-36, and saw a season-high of six blocks.

KINDSETH KILLIN' IT
Paige Kindseth earned the title of Big South Player of the Week on January 13 after delivering back-to-back standout performances against conference foes the week prior. Across the two games, Kindseth averaged 21 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2 assists while shooting 48.6 percent from the field (17-of-35) and an outstanding 87.5 percent from the free-throw line (7-of-8). She also contributed four steals and maintained a strong court presence, limiting her turnovers to just one per game.

A LOOK AT THE BLUE HOSE
- Presbyterian has averaged 51.4 ppg while recording a 36.2 field goal percentage.
- Junior guard/forward Kishyah Anderson leads the team with 12.9 ppg while shooting at a 44.8 rate from the field.
- Senior guard Paige Kindseth is a not far behind with 10.2 ppg while leading the team with 8.2 rpg.
- Junior guard Shelby Fiddler leads the team from beyond the arc, with 24 made three-pointers while shooting at 24.7 percent.
- The Blue Hose are led by first year head coach Tiffany Sardin.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
- Winthrop has taken an even 10-10 record with a 4-3 mark in conference play so far this season. Their Big South wins have come against USC Upstate, Radford, Gardner-Webb, and UNC Asheville.
- As a team, the Eagles have averaged 62.3 ppg while shooting at a 39.1 field goal percentage.
- Sophomore guard Amourie Porter leads the Eagles on offense with 12.8 ppg while shooting at an impressive 51.9 percent from the field.
- Senior forward Marissa Gasaway is Winthrop's best on the boards with 7.0 rpg and 139 total rebounds.
- Semeka Randall Lay is in her fifth season at the helm of the Winthrop women's basketball program.
 
THE ALL-TIME SERIES
Wednesday's game will feature the 35th time that these two teams will have met since Presbyterian made the switch to Division I in 2007. Last season the Blue Hose swept the regular season series between the two teams. The all-time series between the two teams is tied up at 17-17.
