PC Returns Home for Two Conference Matches This Weekend

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team returns home for Big South conference action this weekend at the Templeton Center, taking on Gardner-Webb on Alumni Night on Friday before closing out the weekend against Winthrop on Saturday evening for Staff Appreciation Day.

 

Friday's match against Gardner-Webb will start at 6:00, streaming live on ESPN+. First serve against Winthrop on Saturday will also be at 6:00.

 

The Blue Hose will play their second and third home matches of the season this weekend. Presbyterian dropped its lone home match in Templeton to Charleston Southern on Sept. 26.

LAST TIME OUT
The Blue Hose dropped both conference contests on the road last weekend to fall to 0-5 in Big South play. On Friday, PC played three tight sets at Radford, but the Highlanders prevailed in all three to come away with a 3-0 win. 

 

The Blue Hose responded on Saturday at High Point, taking the second set 25-21 after dropping the opening frame. The Panthers grabbed the third set, but the Blue Hose stayed close in the fourth. PC saved a match point down 24-23 before the Panthers finished the match with two straight points to take the set 26-24 and the match. Anisa Dorlouis registered 38 assists and 13 digs to go along with two service aces to lead the Blue Hose. Courtney Williams led the Blue Hose offensively, logging 12 kills. She also had six blocks in the contest. Elyse Hutchinson added six blocks as well at High Point.

 

BLUE HOSE DOUBLE-DOUBLES
Anisa Dorlouis leads Presbyterian with 14 double-doubles so far this season. Last weekend, she recorded double-doubles in both road contests for PC. At Radford, she delivered 25 assists and 14 digs before finishing the weekend with 38 assists to go along with 13 digs at High Point. On the season, she has logged a double-double in each of her last five games and in 14 of PC's 17 total contests. She is second in the conference in assists this season with 545.

 

Ashley Miller has posted three double-doubles of her own this season against Furman, North Florida, and Harvard. Julia Yurkovich has registered double-doubles against North Florida and Dartmouth. Finally, Celimar Hoyos has one double-double this season against Furman.

 

CAREER-HIGHS
Several Blue Hose players have reached career milestones in recent weeks this season. Anisa Dorlouis tied her career-high in kills at Radford last weekend, recording eight. Emma McHatten also tied her career-high in kills in the same contest, logging seven.

 

Dorlouis tied her career-high in service aces as well with two at High Point. Elyse Hutchinson delivered a career day at USC Upstate, tying her career-high in kills and digs with 13 and six respectively. On the season, Hutchinson is third in the conference in blocks per set, averaging 1.06.

 

SCOUTING THE RUNNIN' BULLDOGS
Presbyterian leads the all-time series with Gardner-Webb 13-5 entering Friday night's contest. The Blue Hose have taken care of the Bulldogs in each of the last two meetings by a 3-0 score. In total, PC has faced Gardner-Webb eight times in Clinton, winning the most recent seven meetings.

 

The Runnin' Bulldogs enter Friday's contest having lost three straight matches and six of their last seven contests. Gardner-Webb holds an 8-12 record overall this season and a 1-4 mark so far in conference play.

 

Nalani McBride leads the Big South in digs for the Bulldogs. She has 405 digs on the season, averaging 5.40 per set. As a team, Gardner-Webb has recorded 1,323 digs on the season, good for first in the conference.

 

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Winthrop leads the all-time series with the Blue Hose 30-10 since PC became a D-1 program in 2007. The Eagles have won the last five meetings against the Blue Hose. PC's last win came in 2022 in Clinton.

 

Winthrop is tied for third in the Big South, boasting a 3-2 record this season in conference action. However, the Eagles enter Saturday's match having lost two of their last three.

 

As a team, Winthrop has the highest hitting percentage in the Big South (.228). The Eagles also lead the conference in kills per set with 13.16. Individually, Avery Jolley leads the conference in that category with 3.66 per set. Winthrop also is second in the conference in assists as a team with 12.21 per set.
