CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the first time in school history, the Presbyterian Blue Hose cross country programs swept the weekly Big South awards as announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon. Presbyterian women's cross country senior Isabel Whitman was the women's runner of the week, and freshman Lillian Anderson was the women's freshman runner of the week. Blue Hose men's cross country freshman Jude Rutherford was the men's runner of the week, and freshman Sam Gearheart was the men's freshman runner of the week.
This week's awards marked the first time since the 2017 season that a Blue Hose runner has captured Big South Runners of the Week accolades.
ISABEL WHITMAN
Whitman posted a time of 19:22.59 in the 5K at the Royals Cross Country Challenge in Charlotte, North Carolina, last Friday, which was the sixth-fastest time in school history.
The Fredericksburg, Virginia, native has tallied two Top 2015 finishes this season.
LILLIAN ANDERSON
Anderson ran a time of 19:25.11 at the Royals Cross Country Challenge, which is the seventh fastest 5K time in the program's history.
The Harrisburg, North Carolina native set the program's 4K record earlier this season at the Elon Friday Night Lights Opener.
JUDE RUTHERFORD
Rutherford broke the school's 8K record with a time of 26:08.46 at the Royals Cross Country Challenge last week. He bettered the previous mark by 12 seconds, which was set in 2017.
The Mint Hill, North Carolina native set the school record in the 6K at the Elon Fright Nights Lights Opener earlier this season.
SAM GEARHEART
Gearheart ran a 27:07.93 at the Royals Cross Country Challenge. He was PC's third-best finisher, and his time ranks as the program's 13th-fastest 8K during its Division I era.
The Clinton, South Carolina native has finished amongst the Blue Hose's top runners at every race this season.
