SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team will compete in their second and third Big South Conference matches tomorrow and the following afternoon, making the quick trip to USC Upstate on Friday evening before then going to UNC Asheville on Saturday.
First serve with the Spartans will be streamed live on ESPN+ at 6:00, while the next day's bout with the Bulldogs is tabbed for a 2:00 start.
Head coach
Maddie Moss will be in pursuit of her first league victory against rival Upstate in Friday's affair, coming up just shy in a four-set decision against Charleston Southern last week.
PC has had Upstate's number as of late, beating the Spartans in five of their last six attempts which includes a 3-2 nail-biter in the Big South Tournament last November (the final set was a 16-14 decision).
Elsewhere, the Blue Hose will aim to delete a three-match losing skid to Asheville after winning the previous four games in that series.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
- Presbyterian has an interesting perspective going into this weekend, as Upstate and Asheville recently played each other in a five-set marathon that the Bulldogs won. The final set came out to a 20-18 differential.
- Upstate had split their previous six matches before losing to UNC Asheville last week, facing hefty competition in losses to South Carolina and Clemson.
- The Spartans are 3-2 when playing at their home gym, sweeping N.C. Central while also churning out four-set W's over the likes of Elon and The Citadel.
- Of their 14 matches, Upstate has played two five-setters: The season-opener against Memphis and their last appearance in Asheville.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
- It's been a tumultuous 2025 for UNC Asheville, winners of just three non-conference matches but beginning the conference trek on a high note with the triumph over Upstate.
- The Bulldogs broomed The Citadel in mid-September to shelve a four-match losing streak, with each of their last two contests stretching all the way to five sets (beating Upstate but losing to UNC Greensboro).
- Three of Asheville's four wins to this point have come with home-court advantage on their side, staying in their own backyard to battle Charleston Southern before Saturday's scuffle with PC.
- Asheville leads the eight Big South members in total blocks this season (131), averaging two per set and stacking up 14 rejections in the Upstate win.
LAST TIME OUT
- It was a raucous atmosphere at Templeton Gymnasium as Presbyterian nearly took down Charleston Southern, lining up eight consecutive points near the close of the 4
th set only to fall short by a 25-23 margin.
- The Blue Hose snagged a Set Two win by six, but were unable to extend the match to a fifth frame and will have to wait until the regular season finale on November 14 to exact their revenge on the Buccaneers.
- After a successful 0-2 comeback on a neutral floor over Quinnipiac, Presby attempted a similar rally last Friday to no avail.
Julia Yurkovich led the way offensively with 13 kills, while senior
Elyse Hutchinson hit .286 individually to go with six blocks.
- Junior outside hitter
Courtney Williams joined the 500-kill club at PC during the close loss to Charleston Southern, while
Sophia Del Valle recently recorded her 500
th dig as well.
