LAST TIME OUT –  Presbyterian lost to South Carolina, 81-61, on the road this past Wednesday. Redshirt senior forward Jonah Pierce paced the Blue Hose with 19 points while grabbing nine rebounds. Junior guard Carl Parrish scored 15 points and redshirt freshman forward Chidi Chiawelo collected his first career double-figure scoring game with 11 points. Redshirt junior forward Jaylen Peterson corralled 11 rebounds in the game.
 
OPENING TIP
INSIDE THE STAT SHEET – Pierce leads the Blue Hose in scoring (16.0 ppg) and is second in rebounding (10.2 rpg). Parrish is second on the team in scoring at 14.4 points per game while connecting on a team-high eight three-point field goals this season. Eight PC players have knocked down at least one three-point field goal this season. Peterson also averages double-figure boards with a team-leading 10.4 rebounds per contest. Sophomore guard Erik Taylor tops the Blue Hose with 20 assists. Peterson and Chiakwelu average over one block per game. As a team, Presbyterian is shooting 45.5 percent from the field while averaging 70.4 points per game.

REGULAR SEASON TOURNAMENTS - For the fifth straight season, Presbyterian is playing in a tournament in the month of November with the Empire Classic in California. The Blue Hose play Sacramento State, California, and UCLA on the road in the Empire Classic. The Empire Classic will be the 14th regular-season tournament that PC has played in since moving to Division I in 2007-08.  Last season, the Blue Hose won the Axe'Em Classic title at Stephen F. Austin with wins over Stephen F. Austin, Youngstown State, and Monmouth. In the 2021-22 season, the Blue Hose claimed the University of New Orleans Classic title with wins over New Orleans, VMI, and Central Arkansas. In the 2023-24 season, the Blue Hose won two games with victories over North Florida and Northwestern State in the First Coast Classic at North Florida.
 
NEARLY RECORD-BREAKING REBOUNDS TOTALS – Redshirt junior forward Jaylen Peterson grabbed 17 rebounds in the win over Bluefield (November 5). His 17 rebounds are tied for the fourth-highest single-game rebounds total in Presbyterian's DI era. The DI era record for rebounds in a game is 18. 
 
DOUBLE DIGIT BOARDS – Redshirt senior forward Jonah Pierce has grabbed double-figure rebounds in two of Presbyterian's first five games. He corralled 13 rebounds against Navy (November 3) and ETSU (November 8).
 
ROAD WARRIORS - Presbyterian has won four of its last five road games after posting wins at Longwood, Radford, and UNC Asheville to end last year's regular season and a road win at Georgia State this past Monday. Before Wednesday's loss at South Carolina, the Blue Hose were on a four-game road winning streak, which was the second most consecutive road wins by PC in its Division I era. In the 2011-12 season, Presbyterian had a stretch of five straight road wins.
 
PC COACH QUINTON FERRELL - Quinton Ferrell is in his seventh season as the head coach of his alma mater, Presbyterian College. Ferrell, a former Blue Hose team captain and a 2007 PC graduate, is one of 51 coaches in the NCAA Division I ranks who are coaching their alma mater.
 
PRESBYTERIAN-SACRAMENTO STATE SERIES – Sunday's game will be the first-ever meeting between Presbyterian and Sacramento State. Sunday's game at Sacramento State will be the first time the Blue Hose have played a game in California since November 19, 2018, at UCLA.

SACRAMENTO STATE – Former NBA standout guard Mike Bibby is in his first season as the head coach. The Hornets have wins over Dominican and Jessup this season. Senior forward Jeremiah Cherry and senior guard Prophet Johnson lead the Hornets in scoring at 18.5 points per game. Johnson grabs a team-leading 10.8 rebounds per game.
