LAST TIME OUT
The Blue Hose picked up their second win of the season on Monday morning (Nov. 17) against Erskine, defeating the Flying Fleet 86-50 to end a three-game losing streak. Aminata Tal led all scorers with 21 points on 8-of-16 shooting. Ja'Cia Cunningham poured it on in the final period for PC, scoring 14 in the 4th quarter to finish the day with 19 points. PC outscored the Flying Fleet 49-26 in the second half, also forcing 36 Erskine turnovers.
Allie Sykes stayed hot from three, draining four of her nine attempts to score 15. Ore Ogunwolere also scored in double figures for PC, pitching in 10 to go along with six assists. As a team, Presbyterian was efficient offensively, shooting 47.1 percent from the field while making 41.2 percent of its threes. Defensively, PC was all over Erskine throughout the game. The Blue Hose recorded 17 steals for the contest with Ogunwolere leading the way with six. Cunningham had four steals of her own, while Amani Williams posted two.
BLUE HOSE BY THE NUMBERS
Ja'Cia Cunningham leads Presbyterian in scoring going into Friday's game, averaging 12.2 points per game off the bench to lead PC. She leads the team in three-point percentage as well, draining 6 of her 12 threes to open the season. Allie Sykes has also been very efficient from beyond the arc for the Blue Hose, shooting 45.2 percent from three. She has made more than double the most threes on the team this year (14) and is also averaging 10.2 points per game. Aminata Tal is PC's second leading scorer on the season, averaging 11.4 points per game. She also leads the team in field goal percentage at 48.9 percent.
Morgan Boyd is the only player to start all five games for the Blue Hose. She is second on the team in rebounding, averaging 5.4 per game. Despite having missed the past three games, Aretha Linger leads the team in rebounding with 5.5 boards per game. Ore Ogunwolere leads the Blue Hose in assists and steals. She has 17 assists and 13 steals so far this season. Defensively, four players have blocked two shots this season for Presbyterian.
SCOUTING THE SEAHAWKS
UNC Wilmington comes into Friday with a 1-3 record this season and back-back losses. The Seahawks most recently fell to Gardner-Webb 65-56 on the road. UNCW previously dropped a road contest to East Carolina and a home matchup with Coastal Carolina. Rori Cox leads the Seahawks in several statistical categories, including points, field goals made, and assists. She is averaging 13.3 points and 3 assists per game for the Seahawks on 43.6 percent shooting from the field. She is also UNCW's second-leading rebounder. Kylah Silver leads the team in rebounding, averaging 6.5 per game. Last year, the Seahawks went 14-18 overall and finished the CAA with an 8-10 conference record in head coach Nicole Woods' second year at the helm.
PRESBYTERIAN – UNCW ALL-TIME SERIES
This will be the sixth career meeting between the two teams. UNC Wilmington leads the all-time series 4-1 with the most recent matchup occurring last season. Presbyterian hosted the Seahawks last year on Nov. 14. UNCW took the game 78-74 in OT. Tal scored 20 points for PC in that game. Overall, the Seahawks won the first three matchups, but the Blue Hose won the most recent matchup in Wilmington in 2023.
NEWCOMERS FOR THE BLUE HOSE
Joining the Blue Hose this season are nine newcomers (four transfers and five freshmen). The transfers for Coach Sardin are Ore Ogunwolere, Ja'Cia Cunningham, Krystal Haddock, and Laetitia Kamdoum.
Freshmen Aretha Linger, Yolanda Floyd, Allie Sykes, Samantha Mullock, and Amani Williams also join the Blue Hose. This is the most freshmen the Blue Hose have had on the roster since the 2022-23 season (also five).
RETURNERS
The Blue Hose return four from last year's roster. Seniors Shelby Fiddler (6.6 ppg, 2.1 rpg) and Aminata Tal (6.7 ppg, 2.1 rpg) lead the returners for PC. Sophomores Morgan Boyd (2.4 ppg, 2.1 rpg), and Daniella Velez (2.8 ppg, 2.6 rpg) also are back for the Blue Hose this season.
THE 2025-26 NON-CONFERENCE SLATE
Presbyterian's non-conference lineup includes five home contests and six road games, featuring a notable road matchup against ACC opponent Virginia Tech on Dec. 10. The Blue Hose will also have remaining trips on the road to Coastal Carolina on Nov. 24 and Furman on Dec. 3.
PC's remaining home non-conference schedule includes Eastern Kentucky on Dec. 19, and Jacksonville State on Dec. 21.
The Blue Hose will also compete in the FIU Holiday Tournament, facing Seattle on Nov. 28 and then either FIU or UMBC on Nov. 30.
BIG SOUTH SCHEDULE
Conference play begins December 31 for the Blue Hose, with PC set to take on each of its eight Big South opponents twice in a balanced home-and-away schedule.
At Templeton, PC will face Radford on Dec. 31, High Point on Jan. 7, UNC Asheville on Jan. 17, Charleston Southern on Jan. 24, USC Upstate on Feb. 4, Gardner-Webb on Feb. 14, Winthrop on Feb. 18, and Longwood on Feb. 28.
On the road, the Blue Hose will take on Longwood on Jan. 3, USC Upstate on Jan. 14, Gardner-Webb on Jan. 21, Winthrop on Jan. 28, High Point on Jan. 31, Charleston Southern on Feb. 7, UNC Asheville on Feb. 21, and Radford on Feb. 25.
LAST SEASON
The Blue Hose finished with a 6-24 record and a 4-12 mark in the Big South in the first season of head coach Tiffany Sardin. In league play, the Blue Hose picked up back-to-back wins against USC Upstate on Jan. 8 and UNC Asheville on Jan. 11. Later in the season, the Blue Hose delivered a road win at Radford, taking down the Highlanders 78-71. In non-conference action, Presbyterian picked up wins against NC Central and Newberry.
