Presbyterian Falls at Coastal Carolina on Monday Night

CONWAY, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's basketball team (2-5) dropped its second straight on Monday evening (Nov. 24), falling to Coastal Carolina on the road 87-38 at the HTC Center.

 

The Chanticleers turned the Blue Hose over 37 times on the night, scoring 40 points off of turnovers for the game. Aminata Tal led Presbyterian in scoring for the fourth time this season, tallying 12 points. Morgan Boyd pitched in 9 points and 9 boards for PC.

 

Laetitia Kamdoum made her first career start for the Blue Hose and grabbed a career-high 8 rebounds. For the game, Presbyterian outrebounded the Chanticleers 42-37.

 

  

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter

Krystal Haddock and Aminata Tal got the Blue Hose on the board first, scoring the game's first four points. However, the Chanticleers dominated the rest of the quarter. Coastal Carolina answered with a 20-0 run to take a commanding 20-4 lead with under a minute left to go in the opening period. Daniella Velez ended the run with a jumper, but the Chanticleers finished the quarter strong to lead 22-6.

 

Second Quarter
Shelby Fiddler made a three to help PC start the second quarter on a 4-0 run, cutting the Coastal Carolina lead back to 12. However, the Chanticleers responded with another big run, separating and building a 20-point lead over the Blue Hose. Yolanda Floyd scored four points late in the half for Presbyterian, but Coastal Carolina controlled the game, leading 45-18 at the break.

 

Third Quarter
Tal scored four quick points in the first 90 seconds of the second half for the Blue Hose. Morgan Boyd later scored off an offensive rebound before hitting her first three of her career later in the quarter. As the quarter went on, Boyd continued to score offensively, but the Chanticleers heated up again offensively. Coastal Carolina finished the third quarter on a 14-0 run going into the fourth.

 

Fourth Quarter
Coastal Carolina continued its run in the fourth quarter, scoring the period's first nine points. Laetitia Kamdoum ended the run with a layup, scoring her first points of the game. Later in the quarter, Allie Sykes drilled her first three of the game. Boyd and Tal also scored in the remaining minutes of the period, but Coastal Carolina was too much on both ends for the Blue Hose. The Chanticleers finished the night with an 87-38 win.

 

 

UP NEXT
The Blue Hose will compete in the FIU Thanksgiving Classic next in Miami, taking on Seattle on Friday, Nov. 28 at 1:30 p.m. and then either FIU or UMBC on Sunday, Nov. 30.
