HOW IT HAPPENED

FIRST HALF – The two teams traded leads from one another to begin the game. Tied at 11 early, Presbyterian embarked on a 9-0 run that was capped off by threes from Josh Pickett and Erik Taylor. Bluefield cut the lead to six halfway through the half before PC was able to stretch the lead to double digits for the first time on the night. A dunk by Iverson King put the Blue Hose up 34-21 on the Rams.

Bluefield fought back and kept the lead to just six with five to play before Jonah Pierce finished the half on fire. Pierce scored eight points in the final minutes of the half to help PC build a 10-point 49-39 lead at the break over the Rams. Pierce finished the half with 21 points on 8-of-9 shooting.

SECOND HALF – Carl Parrish drilled a three in the opening minutes of the second half, helping PC maintain a double-digit lead over Bluefield. The Rams cut the deficit to 12 with 17 to play but never got any closer the rest of the game. A put-back dunk by Peterson followed by a three from Taylor gave the Blue Hose a 69-49 advantage over Bluefield. Pierce and Peterson stayed hot in the middle of the half to help PC lead by 20 more than halfway through the second half.

Down the stretch, the bench got going for the Blue Hose, helping PC put the game away.
