Presbyterian Finishes up Home Slate This Weekend

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team plays its last home matches in the Big South this weekend, taking on High Point on Friday (Nov. 7) before closing the weekend on Senior Day against Radford on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 8). 

 

Friday's match against High Point will start at 6:00, streaming live on ESPN+. First serve on Saturday against the Highlanders will begin at 2:00, also available on ESPN+.

 

The Blue Hose will look to pick up their first wins against either team this season. PC dropped both matches to the Panthers and the Highlanders on the road on Oct. 10-11. Against High Point, the Blue Hose fell in a narrow four set match.

 

Both of Presbyterian's conference wins have come at home this season. The Blue Hose are 2-3 overall this season playing at Templeton.

LAST TIME OUT
PC comes into the weekend on a three-match losing streak. The Blue Hose suffered defeats in both Big South matches on the road last weekend, falling to Winthrop and Gardner-Webb in three sets. Against Winthrop, the Blue Hose dropped a very narrow opening set 26-24 before falling in three sets. Julia Yurkovich and Anisa Dorlouis led PC in the match. Yurkovich recorded a match-high 11 kills. Dorlouis logged 19 assists and 17 digs.

 

Against Gardner-Webb, PC stayed close with the Runnin' Bulldogs in sets two and three but was unable to prevail. Gardner-Webb claimed the third set 28-26 to clinch the victory in three sets. 

 

BLUE HOSE DOUBLE-DOUBLES
Anisa Dorlouis paces Presbyterian with 19 double-doubles going into this weekend. Last week, she posted double-doubles in both road matches for the Blue Hose. She registered 19 assists and 17 digs at Winthrop on Friday (Oct. 31). To finish the weekend, she recorded 29 assists and 13 digs at Gardner-Webb (Nov. 1). She has posted a double-double in each of her last two matches. On the season, she has a double-double in 19 of PC's 23 total matches. She ranks second in the Big South in assists this year with 719.

 

Ashley Miller has recorded three double-doubles of her own this season against Furman, North Florida, and Harvard. Yurkovich has logged double-doubles against North Florida and Dartmouth. Finally, Celimar Hoyos has one double-double this season against Furman.

 

BLUE HOSE BY THE NUMBERS
Several different Blue Hose rank in the top 10 of the Big South in several statistical categories coming into the weekend. Dorlouis is second in the conference this year in assists, averaging 8.46 per set. She and Aubrie Arnold both sit inside the top 10 of the league in digs. Arnold leads the team and ranks fifth in the Big South, averaging 4.31 per set for a total of 366 this season. Dorlouis sits in eighth with 332 on the year.

 

Elyse Hutchinson and Courtney Williams have ranked in the top five of the conference for most of the season in blocks. Hutchinson is third, averaging .99 per set. Williams ranks fifth, averaging .91 per set. Hutchinson also ranks ninth in hitting percentage, coming in at .267 percent going into this weekend.

 

Finally, Yurkovich ranks in the top 10 in kills in the Big South. She ranks seventh in the conference, totaling 245 on the season averaging out to 2.88 per set. She also is seventh in points in the league, averaging 3.15 per set to lead the team.

 

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
The Panthers lead the all-time series with Presbyterian 28-4 since PC became a DI program in 2007. High Point has won each of the last 11 matches against the Blue Hose. PC last defeated the Panthers in 2019 and has not beaten High Point in Clinton since 2014.

 

High Point is tied at the top of the Big South coming into Friday's match with a 9-2 record (tied with Winthrop). The Panthers have won each of their last three matches and hold a 9-1 record in their last 10.

 

Elodie Lalonde leads the conference in kills this year for the Panthers, averaging 3.68 per set. Maya Bukovcan sits atop the league in hitting percentage at .371 percent. Shealso leads the conference in blocks with an average of 1.20.

 

SCOUTING THE HIGHLANDERS
Radford leads PC 19-13 in the all-time series between the two teams. The Highlanders took the matchup at Radford earlier this season, but PC has won each of the last two meetings at Templeton. Overall, PC has defeated the Highlanders at home in four of the last five matches.

 

Radford sits in sixth place in the conference entering this weekend with a 4-7 conference record. The Highlanders have lost five straight and are 3-10 away from home this year.

 

Sierra Moore sits inside the top five of the Big South in service aces for the Highlanders, averaging .37 per set to rank fourth. Lea Gage is seventh in the league with 463 assists on the season.
