CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team dropped its fourth straight match on Friday night (Nov. 7), falling to High Point at home in three sets 17-25, 20-25, 20-25.
Courtney Williams led the Blue Hose on the night offensively, registering seven kills and a .375 hitting percentage. She also logged three blocks for PC. Brittney Daphnis led the Blue Hose defensively, recording five blocks.
SET ONE – HIGH POINT 25, PC 17
- The Panthers took control to start the match, winning six of the match's first eight points. Kills from Julia Yurkovich and Anisa Dorlouis followed to get the Blue Hose within three early, trailing just 11-8.
- High Point extended its lead after the run from PC, going up 17-11. Courtney Williams and Emma McHatten helped PC get back within five, but the Blue Hose still faced an 18-14 deficit late in the set.
- The Panthers finished the set strong, dropping just three more points the rest of the opening frame to take a 1-0 lead over the Blue Hose.
SET TWO – HIGH POINT 25, PC 20
- Presbyterian responded in the second set, winning the first three points and four of the first five of the set behind blocks from Hutchinson and Williams. Down early, High Point quickly went on a run, tying the set at four.
- Both teams traded leads from one another in the middle of the set before PC began to build a lead. With the match tied at 10, PC went on a 6-2 run to force a High Point timeout, using multiple kills from Anisa Dorlouis to gain a 16-12 advantage.
- Out of the timeout, the Panthers completely flipped the script in the set and dominated the rest of the way. High Point trailed 19-15 but only dropped one more point the rest of the set. The Panthers finished the set on a 10-1 run to take a two-set lead over the Blue Hose.
SET THREE – HIGH POINT 25, PC 20
- High Point kept its momentum going in the third, jumping out of the gates to grab a 4-1 edge. A kill from Ashley Miller followed shortly after by a service ace from Celimar Hoyos got PC closer to High Point, but the Panthers responded to take control.
- The Panthers used a 9-0 run to take a 14-4 commanding lead over the Blue Hose. High Point kept their big lead late in the set, going up 24-16 over PC.
- Presbyterian responded with one more run, using a 4-0 run to inch closer to the Panthers. However, High Point closed out the match to take the third set 25-20 and clinch the win.
NOTABLES
- Anisa Dorlouis led the Blue Hose in assists, recording 22.
- Aubrie Arnold had 14 digs on the night, her fifth straight match with at least 10 digs.
- Brittney Daphnis recorded her most blocks since the Blue Hose faced Gardner-Webb at home on Oct. 17.
