LAST TIME OUT
PC returned home for the first time since Nov. 17 on Friday (Dec. 19), falling to Eastern Kentucky 81-61. Morgan Boyd powered the Blue Hose on the night, scoring a career-high 15 points on 4-of 6 shooting from the field. This is the second time in three games that Boyd has scored in double figures for Presbyterian.

Boyd also had a career night from the free throw line, recording career-highs in both makes (7) and attempts (9). Ore Ogunwolere added nine points for PC, while Aretha Linger pitched in eight. Defensively, Linger recorded a career-high four blocks.


 

BLUE HOSE BY THE NUMBERS
Senior Aminata Tal powers the Blue Hose offensively, leading PC in scoring with 10.6 points per game. Her 10.6 points per game rank 14th in the Big South. She is also second on the team in field goal percentage, shooting 40.3 percent from the field (9th in the Big South). Senior Ja'Cia Cunningham is the second-leading scorer for the Blue Hose this season, averaging 9.8 points per game in 11 games off the bench. She ranks inside of the top 20 in the conference in scoring. 


Ore Ogunwolere has also been productive this season for the Blue Hose, leading the team in several statistical categories. She leads the team in field goal percentage (41.5 percent), assists (29), steals (18), and minutes per game (26.5). She sits inside of the top 15 of the league in both assists and steals respectively


Allie Sykes leads the team from beyond the arc and from the free throw line this season. On the year, she has made 20 of her 49 threes while also shooting 88.9 percent from the charity stripe. 


Morgan Boyd is the only player to start all 12 games for the Blue Hose. She leads the team in rebounding, averaging 4.8 rebounds per game. She also paces the team in minutes played this season, playing a total of 298 minutes. Aretha Linger leads the team in blocked shots (8) and is second on the team on the glass, averaging 4.7 rebounds per game. 



CLEANING UP THE OFFENSIVE GLASS
As a team, the Blue Hose rank as one of the best offensive rebounding teams in the Big South. Through 12 games, Presbyterian ranks second in the league in offensive rebounds per game, averaging 14.3. Linger leads the team on the season on the offensive glass, registering 18 offensive rebounds. The Blue Hose also rank fourth in the conference in offensive rebounding percentage. 

 


SCOUTING THE GAMECOCKS
Jacksonville State enters Sunday's contest having won three of its last four games. The Gamecocks had a three-game winning streak before it came to an end against Saint Louis (74-54) on Wednesday (Dec. 17). Mya Barnes leads the Gamecocks in several statistical categories this season. She leads the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 10.6 points to go along with 7.2 rebounds per game. She leads the team as well in average minutes per game (29.7), blocked shots (15), and made three-pointers (19). Rick Pietri is in his thirteenth season as the head coach of the Gamecocks. He is the school's all-time winningest head coach, coming in Sunday with a total of 186 wins at Jacksonville State. As a team, the Gamecocks rank third in Conference USA in scoring defense, giving up just 57.1 points per game.

 


PRESBYTERIAN – JACKSONVILLE STATE ALL-TIME SERIES
This will be the first-ever meeting between Jacksonville State and Presbyterian.

 


BLUE HOSE ROSTER
Joining the Blue Hose this season are nine newcomers (four transfers and five freshmen). The transfers for Coach Sardin are Ore Ogunwolere, Ja'Cia Cunningham, Krystal Haddock, and Laetitia Kamdoum.

Freshmen Aretha Linger, Yolanda Floyd, Allie Sykes, Samantha Mullock, and Amani Williams also join the Blue Hose. This is the most freshmen the Blue Hose have had on the roster since the 2022-23 season (also five).

 
The Blue Hose also return four from last year's roster. Seniors Shelby Fiddler and Aminata Tal lead the returners for PC. Sophomores Morgan Boyd and Daniella Velez also are back for the Blue Hose this season.
 

 

BIG SOUTH SCHEDULE
Conference play begins December 31 for the Blue Hose, with PC set to take on each of its eight Big South opponents twice in a balanced home-and-away schedule.


At Templeton, PC will face Radford on Dec. 31, High Point on Jan. 7, UNC Asheville on Jan. 17, Charleston Southern on Jan. 24, USC Upstate on Feb. 4, Gardner-Webb on Feb. 14, Winthrop on Feb. 18, and Longwood on Feb. 28.


On the road, the Blue Hose will take on Longwood on Jan. 3, USC Upstate on Jan. 14, Gardner-Webb on Jan. 21, Winthrop on Jan. 28, High Point on Jan. 31, Charleston Southern on Feb. 7, UNC Asheville on Feb. 21, and Radford on Feb. 25.
