LAST TIME OUT –  Presbyterian's second half rally fell short in an 87-81 loss at Manhattan last Sunday. Redshirt junior forward Jaylen Peterson paced the Blue Hose with a career-high 22 points while grabbing eight rebounds. Redshirt senior forward Jonah Pierce recorded another double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds.
 
OPENING TIP
INSIDE THE STAT SHEET – Pierce leads the Blue Hose in scoring at 14.2 points per game. Pierce leads the Big South and ranks 49th in the nation in rebounding at 8.7 boards per game. Junior guard Carl Parrish is second on the team in scoring at 12.8 points per game while connecting on a team-high 32 three-point field goals this season. Ten PC players have knocked down at least one three-point field goal this season. Peterson is second on the team in rebounding at 7.0 rebounds per contest. Sophomore guard Triston Wilson ranks amongst the Big South leaders, averaging a team-leading 3.6 assists per game. Wilson has dished out at least five assists in four games this season. Pierce, Peterson, and redshirt freshman forward Chidi Chiakwelu average around a blocked shot per game. Pierce and Chiakwelu rank third in the Big South at 1.36 blocked shots per game. As a team, Presbyterian is shooting 44.9 percent from the field while averaging 67.8 points per game.
 
OPENING TIP
BLOCKED SHOTS - Chiakwelu recorded six blocked shots against Wofford (December 3), which is tied for the highest single-game total in Presbyterian's DI era. Peterson has also posted six blocked shots in a game in his career. Peterson accomplished that feat at Winthrop last season (January 29, 2025). 
 
SCORING DEFENSE - Presbyterian ranks first in the Big South and 76th in the nation in scoring defense after limiting its opponents to 68.7 points per game.
 
DOUBLE-DIGIT BOARDS – Pierce has grabbed double-figure rebounds six times this season. He corralled 13 rebounds against Navy (November 3) and ETSU (November 8). He recorded 14 rebounds at Sacramento State (November 16) and at Wofford (December 3).  In Presbyterian's last home game, a win over Morehead State (December 6), he tallied 16 rebounds. Last Sunday at Manhattan (December 21), he grabbed 11 boards.
 
FIVE DOUBLE-FIGURE SCORERS - In Presbyterian's 80-72 win over Morehead State (December 6), five PC players scored in double-figures, which marked the first time since a home win over Virginia-Lynchburg on December 18, 2024, that Presbyterian had at least five players score in double-figures in a game. In the win over Morehead State, Presbyterian's five double-figure scorers were: Parrish (18 pts.), Wilson (17 pts.), Josh Pickett (12 pts.), Pierce (11 pts.), and Khalon Hudson (11 pts.).
 
PC COACH QUINTON FERRELL - Quinton Ferrell is in his seventh season as the head coach of his alma mater, Presbyterian College. Ferrell, a former Blue Hose team captain and a 2007 PC graduate, is one of 51 coaches in the NCAA Division I ranks who are coaching their alma mater.
 
PRESBYTERIAN-TRUETT MCCONNELL SERIES – Sunday's game will be the second meeting between Presbyterian and Truett McConnell. The Blue Hose beat Truett McConnell, 91-49, in their previous matchup at home, December 30, 2021. Former PC standout Winston Hill led four PC double-figure scorers with 14 points on 6-for-9 shooting in the game. Presbyterian knocked down 11 three-point field goals in the win.

TRUETT MCCONNELL - The Bears enter the game after a 73-70 road win at Florida National on December 18, which ended a three-game losing streak for Truett McConnell. The Bears average 77.1 points per game while shooting 46.8 percent from the field. Sophomore Preston Tuggle leads Truett McConnell in scoring at 12.9 points per game.
