CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team (2-6) dropped their home opener to the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (1-2) at the Templeton Tennis Courts on Thursday afternoon.
DOUBLES
The Chanticleers earned the doubles point by picking up wins at the No. 1 and 3 positions. The No. 2 doubles slot was left unfinished while Coastal Carolina was leading 4-2.
SINGLES
The first four singles matches landed in favor of the Chanticleers, giving them a 5-0 advantage.
Valentina De Sousa was able to pick up a point for the Blue Hose after defeating Coastal Carolina's Aida Mitrache at the No. 3 position, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. The final match of the day featured
Mary Ellen Longmire, playing at the No. 6 singles slot, against the Chanticleer's Paula Cabrer. After a hard fight, Longmire fell just short 7-6 (7-5), 6-7 (10-12), 7-5.
