DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Presbyterian Blue Hose (14-19) saw their season end with a 78-70 loss to the Illinois State Redbirds (20-14) in the first round of the CBI in the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida on Sunday evening.
Kory Mincy scored a game-high 21 points.
Kobe Stewart scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
Quadir Pettaway scored 10 points off the bench.
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF – The Redbirds scored the game's first eight points. Stewart got the Blue Hose on the scoreboard with a driving layup. Stewart's basket began a Presbyterian 14-5 scoring run which was capped off by a jump shot from
Carl Parrish with 10:43 on the clock giving the Blue Hose a 14-13 lead. Pettaway knocked down two threes during the Blue Hose scoring run. Illinois State eventually regained the lead, pushing it to 30-22 with two and a half minutes left in the half. Two free throws by Mincy started the Blue Hose's 8-0 scoring run which would tie the score at 30 with 30 seconds left in the half. Parrish,
Kaleb Scott, and
Triston Wilson also scored during Presbyterian's run. A layup by Wilson was a game-tying basket. With five seconds left in the half, Illinois State converted a three-point play to take a 33-30 halftime lead.
SECOND HALF – Illinois State scored the first four points of the second half. A free throw from
Jamahri Harvey and a jumper from Scott got the Blue Hose within three points, 37-34. Illinois State connected on three straight three-point field goals to take control of the game pushing their lead to 46-34 with 15:44 on the clock. Presbyterian ended the Illinois State scoring run with made free throws from Pettaway and Stewart. Presbyterian was able to cut Illinois State's lead to six points with 17 seconds on the clock after a three from Mincy but the Blue Hose were not able to get any closer to Illinois State.

- Mincy's 21 points marked his seventh 20-point scoring game and his 28th double-figure scoring game of the season.
- Stewart's 15 points was his 28th double digit scoring game of the season and the 49th of his career.
- Pettaway's 10 points was his fourth double-figure scoring game of the season.
- Jaylen Peterson recorded three blocked shots to set the program's Division I era record for blocked shots in a season with 52. He broke the record of 51 set by William Truss in the 2013-14 season.
