Big South Tournament; Women’s Hoops Central: Presbyterian vs UNC Asheville

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – For the first time under head coach Tiffany Sardin's leadership, the Presbyterian College women's basketball team will compete in the Big South Conference Tournament. In the first round, the Blue Hose are set to face the UNC Asheville Bulldogs on Wednesday, March 5 at 5:00 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Blue Hose fell to the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs on Saturday as their final regular season game of the 2024-25 season. Kishyah Anderson was the player to watch as she scored a DI program record of 40 points.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
- UNC Asheville has taken a 1-15 mark against conference opponents, defeating PC in their last meeting.
- The Bulldogs have averaged 57.9 ppg while shooting at a 36.1 rate from the field.
- Senior guard LaImani Simmons has led the team offensively with 10.6 ppg while shooting at a 37.3 field goal percentage.
- Fifth year forward Abigail Wilson is a close second with 10.4 ppg while shooting at a 43.8 rate from the field. She is also the Bulldogs leading rebounder with 6.1 rpg and 176 total boards.
- Fifth year guard Dakota McCaughan is one of the best playmakers on the squad with a team leading 90 assists and 63 steals.
- UNC Asheville is led by first year head coach Tynesha Lewis.

A LOOK AT THE BLUE HOSE
- Presbyterian has averaged 55.0 ppg while recording a 37.5 field goal percentage.
- Junior guard/forward Kishyah Anderson leads the team with 15.0 ppg (third in the league) while shooting at a Big South leading 45.1 rate from the field.
- Senior guard Paige Kindseth is a not far behind with 11.8 ppg (seventh in the Big South) while leading the team with 8.3 rpg (second in the conference).
- Junior guard Shelby Fiddler leads the team from beyond the arc, with 48 made three-pointers while shooting at 29.6 percent from range. Her 1.7 made triples per game ranks her seventh in the league.
- The Blue Hose are led by first year head coach Tiffany Sardin.

VIDEO GAME NUMBERS
Kishyah Anderson's 40-point performance against Gardner-Webb on March 1 not only set the program's division I single game scoring record, but also earned Anderson many feats. Her 40 points tied for fourth in the Big South's record book for most points single game points against league opponents. On her way to 40, Anderson sank 18 field goals which tied the conference's record for the most FG's made in a single game. She was also the highest scoring DI women's basketball player on Wednesday, March 1.

KINDSETH KILLIN' IT
Paige Kindseth earned the title of Big South Player of the Week on January 13 after delivering back-to-back standout performances against conference foes the week prior. Across the two games, Kindseth averaged 21 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2 assists while shooting 48.6 percent from the field (17-of-35) and an outstanding 87.5 percent from the free-throw line (7-of-8). She also contributed four steals and maintained a strong court presence, limiting her turnovers to just one per game.
 
THE ALL-TIME SERIES
Saturday's game will feature the 38th meeting between Presbyterian and UNC Asheville since the Blue Hose joined Division I in 2007. The Blue Hose took down the Bulldogs in their first meeting of this season before falling to them in their second battle. Asheville currently leads the all-time series between the two teams 19-18.
 
Presbyterian has faced UNC Asheville in the Big South Tournament only two times. The Bulldogs beat the Blue Hose in 65-55 in the semifinals of the 2016 tournament and then took them down again the following year, again in the semifinals, 56-55.
