Blue Hose Head to Asheville for SoCon Tournament

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – It's postseason time for the Presbyterian College men's wrestling team, migrating to Kimmel Arena just over 90 minutes away for the Southern Conference Championships in Asheville, North Carolina.

The format for the SoCon Tournament has changed compared to recent years, now a two-day event in contrast to a single afternoon. Brackets will begin on Friday at 12:30, with those making it to at least the top four of their respective weight class advancing to the next day.

To throw another loophole into this new-look conference tourney, Bellarmine has now completed the transition process after converting from the Division II ranks which means they expand the field from eight teams up to nine.

Thus, the top-seeded wrestler from each weight class will receive a BYE into the next round. Full seedings for the entire league are listed below.

Double-elimination is the name of the game for the SoCon Tournament, with those making it to either the championship match or consolation finals moving to day two.

The ten first-place winners will all receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships later this month (held in Philadelphia), with a handful of other at-large bids announced at a later date.
