Blue Hose Begin Big South Play at Home Against Gardner-Webb

The Presbyterian Blue Hose (5-7) begins Big South Conference play against preseason league favorite the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs (12-3) at the Templeton Tennis Courts this Saturday at 11 a.m.

Presbyterian coach Juan Pablo Boada is in his first season at the helm of Presbyterian's men's tennis program.

PC BY THE NUMBERS
This spring, David Mamalat leads the team with six wins. Evgenios Vasilakis and Daksh Prasad are tied for second on the team with five wins apiece. The doubles team of Pedro Cardoso and Prasad lead the team with six wins. The doubles duo of Mamalat and Vasilakis have tallied four wins.

BIG SOUTH PRESEASON POLL
Presbyterian was picked to finish second in the preseason Big South coaches' poll. Gardner-Webb, who won the Big South regular-season title last season, was picked first. After the Blue Hose in the poll was UNC Asheville, the defending Big South tournament champions, who were picked third. Longwood and Radford round out the poll in fourth and fifth place, respectively.

In Presbyterian's men's tennis program's history, the Blue Hose have captured three Big South regular-season titles (2014, 2017, and 2023) and three Big South Tournament titles (2017, 2021, and 2023).

GARDNER-WEBB
Gardner-Webb has won six of the last seven matchups between the two teams. The lone Presbyterian win during that stretch over Gardner-Webb was a 4-1 victory in the Big South Tournament Championship match on April 23, 2023. Senior Eduardo Dias, who was the Big South Player of the Year last season, was voted by the Big South coaches to repeat that feat this season.
