CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian Blue Hose (5-8, Big South: 0-1) lost their Big South Conference opener to league preseason favorite the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs (13-3, Big South: 1-0), 7-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Templeton Tennis Courts.
DOUBLES
Gardner-Webb captured the doubles point with wins on courts two and one. Presbyterian's doubles duo of
Eduardo Valentin and
Denim Yadav recorded a 7-5 win at number three doubles.
SINGLES
Gardner-Webb won all six singles matches to claim the overall victory. Gardner-Webb won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. At number one singles, Presbyterian's
David Mamalat battled the reigning Big South Player of the Year, Gardner-Webb's Eduardo Dias, in a hard-fought three sets before coming up short, 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-5).
