Moss Era Begins as Blue Hose Open 2025 at Georgia State Invitational

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team, under the direction of first-year head coach Maddie Moss, opens the 2025 season this weekend at the Georgia State Invitational. The Blue Hose face the host Panthers on Friday, Aug. 29 at 1:30 p.m., followed by a matchup with the Furman Paladins at 6:30 p.m. PC concludes the event on Saturday, Aug. 30 at 11:00 a.m. against the West Georgia Wolves.
 
Presbyterian enters the season with a roster that blends experience and new faces, featuring 11 returners and four newcomers. The Blue Hose look to build on last year's success, which included a trip to the Big South Tournament semifinals for just the third time in program history.

2024 SEASON RECAP
Presbyterian earned one of its strongest seasons to date in 2024, highlighted by a five-set victory over USC Upstate that advanced the Blue Hose to the Big South semifinals. Junior outside hitter Courtney Williams was recognized on the Big South Second Team after leading the team with 2.53 kills per set, a .265 hitting percentage, and 87 total blocks.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS:
Georgia State Panthers
- Posted a 17-13 overall record and went 7-9 in Sun Belt play in 2024.
- Senior outside hitter Alessia Cappai returns as the team's top option, averaging 2.49 kills and 2.32 digs per set last season.
- Graduate middle blocker Myllena Torquetti anchors the front line after recording 94 total blocks.
- Senior setter Shanelle Martinez led the Panthers with 646 assists and returns as their floor leader.
- The all-time series is tied 5-5, with Presbyterian winning the most recent meeting in five sets during the 2023 season.
- Head Coach: Flavia Siqueira (2nd season).
 
Furman Paladins
- Finished 13-14 overall with a 7-8 record in Southern Conference action last season.
- Sophomore outside hitter Ashley Stein led the Paladins in kills, averaging 2.28 per set.
- Setter Quinn Morrissey directed the offense with a team-high 5.61 assists per set.
- Junior libero Kennedy Seekford spearheads the defense after totaling 4.57 digs per set.
- Furman leads the Division I series 13-0, including a four-set victory last season.
- Head Coach: Michelle Young (26th season).
 
West Georgia Wolves
- Closed the 2024 campaign at 9-19 overall and 2-14 in Atlantic Sun play.
- Sophomore outside hitter Rylee Henderson paced the Wolves with 2.24 kills per set.
- Middle blocker Alex Strating returns after posting a team-best 91 blocks.
- Saturday's contest marks the first meeting between the two programs in PC's Division I era.
- Head Coach: Kara Hellmann (5th season).
