Blue Hose Prepare for Weekend Challenge at the Georgia Bulldogs Tournament

ATHENS, Ga. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team continues its early-season tournament schedule this weekend at the Georgia Bulldogs Tournament. Under the direction of first-year head coach Maddie Moss, the Blue Hose face the host Bulldogs on Friday, September 12, at 7 p.m. Then, the Blue Hose face the FIU Panthers on Saturday, September 13, at 2 p.m. Presbyterian concludes the weekend against Georgia Southern on Sunday, September 14 p.m. with the first serve at 1 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Presbyterian College closed out the UNF Invitational last Sunday with a four-set victory over Harvard inside UNF Arena. The Blue Hose earned the win by scores of 25-17, 19-25, 25-16, 28-26.

Junior opposite Courtney Williams recorded a season-high 15 kills and seven blocks while hitting .286. Junior outside hitter Julia Yurkovich added 13 kills on .303 hitting, and Ashley Miller chipped in 10 kills and 11 digs to achieve her third double-double of the season. Setter Anisa Dorlouis notched her fifth double-double in six games with 40 assists, 12 digs, 5 kills, and 2 blocks, while libero Aubrie Arnold led the back row with 19 digs. Presbyterian also matched its season-high with 13.0 team blocks for the second consecutive match.

BLUE HOSE DOUBLE-DOUBLES
The Blue Hose have recorded ten double-doubles through the first two weekends of the 2025 season. Junior setter Anisa Dorlouis posted five, recording 40 assists and 12 digs in the win over Harvard. Junior outside hitter Ashley Miller has tallied three double-doubles, while junior libero Celimar Hoyos contributed 10 assists and 16 digs in the same match. Junior outside hitter Julia Yurkovich posted her first double-double of the season with 12 kills and 11 digs against North Florida. These performances highlight the balanced contributions across the PC lineup early in the season.
 
CAREER-HIGHS
Several Blue Hose players reached career milestones during the first two weeks of the 2025 season. Sophomore libero Aubrie Arnold set career highs with 32 digs, three aces, and six assists in the win over West Georgia. Sophomore middle blocker Ava Smith tied her career-high with four total blocks against West Georgia, while junior libero Celimar Hoyos tied her career-high with three aces in the same match. Junior middle blocker Brittney Daphnis matched her career-high with eight kills against Furman, and junior outside hitter Ashley Miller set a personal best with 19 kills in the same contest. Junior opposite Courtney Williams set a career-high eight 10 assists against Howard. Junior setter Anisa Dorlouis set a career high with 42 assists against North Florida. These standout performances highlight the depth and talent across the Blue Hose lineup early in the season.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS:
GEORGIA BULLDOGS
  • Friday's game will be the fourth meeting between Presbyterian and Georgia, who leads the all-time series, 3-0.
  • Georgia defeated the Blue Hose, 3-0, at home in their last meeting, August 25, 2017.
  • The Bulldogs are 5-1 on the season with wins over Samford, Troy, Alabama State, Texas Tech, and Duke.  
  • Georgia coach Tom Black is in his ninth season at the helm of the Bulldogs volleyball program.
  • Junior outside hitter Bianna Muoneke leads the team with 76 kills. Junior setter Kaiya Tyson leads the team with 107 assists.

FIU PANTHERS
  • Saturday's game will be the first meeting between Presbyterian and FIU.
  • FIU enters the game with a 3-3 record with wins over Bryant, Duke, and Stetson. FIU has losses to Houston, Drake, and UCF.
  • Cristina Robertson is in her fourth season as FIU's head coach.
  • Senior outside hitter Kira Givans leads the team with 73 kills. Senior setter Savannah Cook has collected 203 assists this season.

GEORGIA SOUTHERN EAGLES
  • Sunday's game marks the third meeting between PC and Georgia Southern, who leads the all-time series 2-0. Georgia Southern collected a 3-0 home win in their last matchup on August 27. 2021.
  • The Eagles are 6-0 on the season with wins over North Florida, UIC, The Citadel, UNCW, Pacific, and Mercer.
  • Chad Willis is in his seventh season as the Georgia Southern head coach.
  • Sophomore outside hitter Sam Bowron leads the Eagles with 48 kills. Senior setter Kirsten Barrett has recorded 181 assists.
