Presbyterian Travels North for the Cherry & White Tournament

Philadelphia, Pa. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team (2-7) finishes its early-season tournament schedule this weekend at the Cherry & White Tournament at Temple University in Philadelphia. Under the direction of first-year head coach Maddie Moss, the Blue Hose face the host Temple Owls on Friday, September 19, at Noon. Then, PC plays Dartmouth on Saturday, September 20, at 4 p.m. Presbyterian wraps up the tournament against Quinnipiac on Sunday, September 21, at Noon.

LAST TIME OUT
Presbyterian traveled to Athens, Georgia, last weekend to play in the Georgia Bulldogs Tournament against Georgia, FIU, and Georgia Southern. Courtney Williams and Julia Yurkovich paced the Blue Hose with 21 kills in the tournament. Elyse Hutchinson and Ashley Miller tallied 20 kills apiece in the tournament. Anisa Dorlouis dished out 76 assists in the three matches.  

BLUE HOSE DOUBLE-DOUBLES
The Blue Hose have recorded 12 double-doubles through the first three weekends of the 2025 season. Junior setter Anisa Dorlouis posted seven, recording 40 assists and 12 digs in the win over Harvard. Junior outside hitter Ashley Miller has tallied three double-doubles, while junior libero Celimar Hoyos contributed 10 assists and 16 digs in the same match. Junior outside hitter Julia Yurkovich posted her first double-double of the season with 12 kills and 11 digs against North Florida. These performances highlight the balanced contributions across the PC lineup early in the season.
 
CAREER-HIGHS
Several Blue Hose players reached career milestones during the first three weeks of the 2025 season. Sophomore libero Aubrie Arnold set career highs with 32 digs, three aces, and six assists in the win over West Georgia. Sophomore middle blocker Ava Smith tied her career-high with four total blocks against West Georgia, while junior libero Celimar Hoyos tied her career-high with three aces in the same match. Junior middle blocker Brittney Daphnis matched her career-high with eight kills against Furman, and junior outside hitter Ashley Miller set a personal best with 19 kills in the same contest. Junior opposite Courtney Williams set a career-high eight 10 assists against Howard. Junior setter Anisa Dorlouis set a career high with 42 assists against North Florida. These standout performances highlight the depth and talent across the Blue Hose lineup early in the season.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS:
TEMPLE OWLS
  • Friday's game will be the second meeting between Presbyterian and Temple. The Blue Hose defeated the Owls, 3-2, in their last matchup at PC's Templeton Center on September 8, 2024. Williams paced the Blue Hose with 14 kills in the match. Former Blue Hose setter Anna Baranski collected 43 assists.
  • Temple enters the tournament with a 6-4 record with wins over North Dakota, George Washington, North Carolina Central, Georgetown, FDU, and Fordham.
  • Outside hitter Leia Harper leads the Owls with 95 kills. Setter Lexi Yoza has recorded 189 assists.

DARTMOUTH BIG GREEN
  • Saturday's game will be the first meeting between Presbyterian and Dartmouth.
  • The Big Green enter the tournament with a 2-4 record with wins over LIU and Sacred Heart.
  • Outside hitter Kauany Gutz leads the team with 48 kills. Setter Sophia Gagnepain has recorded 115 assists.

QUINNIPIAC BOBCATS
  • Sunday's game marks the first-ever matchup between Presbyterian and Quinnipiac.
  • The Bobcats enter the tournament with a 2-7 record, with wins over Western Illinois and Stonehill.
  • Opposite Elena Giacomini leads the team with 147 kills. Setter Damla Gunes has recorded 235 assists.
