CLINTON, S.C. – The main offensive weapon in what turned out to be the biggest victory in program history, senior wide receiver
Dominic Kibby of the Presbyterian College football team has been selected as the first Adidas / Game One PC Student-Athlete of the Week for the new school year.
Bringing in a career-high nine catches for 114 yards and breaking yet another school record in the Division-I era, Kibby highlighted a 15-10 Blue Hose upset over #11 Mercer to begin the 2025 campaign.
With Kibby's contributions aiding the cause, Presbyterian ended a 35-game losing streak by Pioneer Football League teams against non-conference top-25 programs. It's the first time that PC has defeated an opponent inside the national top 15 in 11 years, and the first time they've ever accomplished that feat in a road game.
The Blue Hose were chosen as a
National Team of the Week honorable mention by pulling off the stunner, giving the PFL its fourth win over a ranked opponent in its last 72 attempts dating back to 2010.
KIBBY IS KING
- With a 23-yard gain in the second quarter, Kibby – who already holds the school touchdown record with 15 – became PC's Division I leader in career yardage as well (dating back to 2007).
- He now displays 2,389 all-time receiving yards since his debut season three years ago, surpassing the previous record held by Keith Pearson (2017-20).
- When the Blue Hose were faced with a 4
th-and-4 while trailing by one, Kibby was the man called upon to move the chains. He completed a diving catch for a gain of 14 with a defender draped on his back, leading to a PC touchdown with 56 seconds remaining that officially won them the ballgame.
- Mercer came into that contest with a 10-game home winning streak, the fourth-longest in all of FCS. Presbyterian outgained the Bears by 175 total yards, securing the program's second win in three seasons over a member of the Southern Conference (PC also beat Wofford in 2023).
LOOKING AHEAD
- Another huge road test awaits the Blue Hose this weekend as they'll go 45 minutes down the road to Greenville where they'll face the Furman Paladins.
- The last time that Presby went head-to-head with Furman, the result was a 10-7 PC triumph at Bailey Memorial Stadium back in 2014. Each of the last three meetings between the Scotsmen and the Paladins have been decided by 10 points or less.
- Both clubs are now receiving votes in the AFCA FCS coaches' poll (Furman with 41 votes, PC with three). The Paladins were also victorious in Week 1 as they churned out a 23-21 decision over William & Mary at home.
- Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 PM, with ESPN+ on the call.
GAME ONE
- The Presbyterian College athletic department partnered with Game One – an official team dealer for Adidas – on a multi-year apparel agreement in November 2022. PC's partnership with Adidas began in 2015 to outfit the Blue Hose athletic programs.
- Game One is among the country's largest and fastest-growing sports equipment and apparel suppliers, serving a loyal customer base of 13,000 schools and organizations in 38 states.
