CLINTON, S.C. – Stashing the second-most all-purpose yards of any player in FCS and the central piece of a 41-0 shutout over Morehead State last weekend, senior running back
Zach Switzer of the #24/23 Presbyterian College football team has been named the Adidas / Game One PC Student-Athlete of the Week.
After a breakout season last year where he gathered over 1,200 yards in rushing, receiving, and kick returning, Switzer has been a treacherous player for all who have stood in Presby's way.
The Blue Hose are undefeated after five games for the first time since 1959, winning by an average margin of 29 points and claiming the W by a combined tally of 117-3 over the last two Saturdays.
Switzer is at the heart of it all, flaming Morehead State for 150 rushing yards in the first half alone while responsible for three total touchdowns. He ran for 66 and 79-yard scores as the Blue Hose earned their first shutout in a conference game since 2006.
TOUCHDOWN SWITZER
- A former Memphis Tiger before arriving at Presbyterian in 2023, Switzer's offensive statistics has risen with each year. He has already made it to the end zone nine times in his final season (six rushing, three receiving), trailing only Lafayette's Kente Edwards for the most TD's in FCS football.
- He is averaging eight yards per carry after five games, good enough for third nationally (only Edwards and Jackson State's Ahmad Miller have more).
- The Tennessee native has racked up 735 all-purpose yards this year, only behind Chris Mosley of N.C. Central for the most by any player at the FCS level.
- Over the first two quarters of the Morehead meltdown, Switzer was averaging a ridiculous 30 yards per touch. He helped the Blue Hose accomplish at least 35 first-half points for the third consecutive week.
LONGEST IN AMERICA
- Going into PC's BYE week, the Scotsmen are in a three-way tie with Memphis and Tennessee Tech for the longest active winning streak in Division I football (nine games).
- Head coach
Steve Englehart's program has reached 39 points per game during that streak, dating back to October 26 of last season.
- Presbyterian has also won its last five games at Bailey Memorial Stadium, the team's longest home winning streak since 2011-12.
- There are only nine other undefeated schools of the 129 who play at the FCS level, with PC being the only Division I program in the state of South Carolina that is still perfect.
LOOKING AHEAD
- PC will enjoy a well-deserved off-week with one PFL encounter in the rearview, playing again on October 11 with a visit to Butler.
- The Bulldogs squeezed out a three-point victory over Marist last weekend and will travel to St. Thomas before turning their attention to the Blue Hose.
- Kickoff will take place at 1:00 from Indianapolis. Presbyterian downed then-#23 Butler at Bailey Memorial in last season's finale, winning a 30-27 thriller.
GAME ONE
- The Presbyterian College athletic department partnered with Game One – an official team dealer for Adidas – on a multi-year apparel agreement in the fall of 2022. PC's partnership with Adidas began in 2015 to outfit the Blue Hose athletic programs.
- Game One is among the country's largest and fastest-growing sports equipment and apparel suppliers, serving a loyal customer base of 13,000 schools and organizations in 38 states.
