CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian Blue Hose head men's basketball coach
Quinton Ferrell announced the addition of Jack Schaffner to the coaching staff. Schaffner will be the men's basketball program's strength and conditioning coach and the director of basketball operations.
"Jack Schaffner comes to our program with a tremendous pedigree and experience," Ferrell said. "I'm very excited for the program and our current student athletes with Jack's arrival. Jack has incredible energy and knowledge that will be a tremendous asset for our athletes in the weight room. He will make our players bigger, stronger, and faster, which will be a huge component of our success this season on the court. The level of passion he displays is something that stands out to me, particularly in relation to his craft and his dedication to young people. I look forward to seeing the results of his work with our student-athletes. I'm very excited to welcome Jack to the PC family!"
Schaffner joins the Presbyterian coaching staff after spending the last year as a member of the strength and conditioning coaching staff at Jacksonville State University. At Jacksonville State, he worked with the women's basketball and men's golf programs while assisting with men's basketball and football. He spent this past summer as a strength and conditioning intern at the University of Nevada, where he worked with the men's and women's basketball programs.
Before Jacksonville State, he spent one year working with the strength and conditioning staff as a student assistant at the University of Pittsburgh.
The Reno, Nevada, native graduated from Pittsburgh with a degree in exercise science in 2024 and a master's degree in sport management from Jacksonville State in 2025. Schaffner is a certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength & Conditioning Association, who is also certified in 3DMAPS and CAFS from the Gray Institute, which is used in training.
"I am excited to join Coach Ferrell's staff here at Presbyterian," Schaffner said. "The entire coaching staff has welcomed me with open arms, and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to be a part of a high-performing team and continue to build positive momentum as we continue to improve coming into this season."
