LAST TIME OUT
The Blue Hose suffered a 75-32 loss to Radford to open conference play on New Year's Eve (Dec. 31) at the Templeton Center.

 

Ja'Cia Cunningham led Presbyterian in scoring for the game with 10 points. She has scored in double figures six times this season and 25 times in her career. Samantha Mullock made her first career collegiate three-pointer for the Blue Hose. Aminata Tal drilled her fourth three overall of the season.

 

Daniella Velez tied her career-high with four steals against the Highlanders. Amani Williams recorded her first career blocked shot.


 

BLUE HOSE BY THE NUMBERS
Senior Ja'Cia Cunningham powers the Blue Hose on the offensive end of the floor, scoring 9.6 points per game for Presbyterian coming primarily off the bench. She ranks in the top 20 of the Big South in scoring. She has started in PC's last two games and is second in the team in field goals made on the year with 50. Senior Aminata Tal is the second-leading scorer for the Blue Hose, coming into Saturday's road clash averaging 9.4 points per game. She leads the team in field goals made on the season with 51 and also ranks inside of the top 20 of the conference in scoring. She also leads the team in made free throws with 25.


Junior Ore Ogunwolere paces the Blue Hose in assists (33) and steals (20) coming into this weekend. She rests inside of the top 15 of the league in both assists and steals (9th in assists). She is also second on the team in field goal percentage (40.7 percent) and third in minutes played (342).


Freshman Allie Sykes leads the team from both the three point line and free throw line so far this year. She has made 22 total three-pointers, which ranks 12th in the league. She has drained 16 of her 18 free throw attempts as well for the Blue Hose. 


Sophomore Morgan Boyd is the only player to start all 14 games for the Blue Hose. She leads the team in rebounding and minutes played, averaging 4.7 rebounds per game while playing 349 total minutes this season. She is shooting 41.7 percent from beyond the arc as well, making 5 of her 12 three-point attempts. Finally, she is second on the team in blocked shots with 8.



BLOCK PARTY
As a team, the Blue Hose rank as one of the best shot-blocking units in the Big South. Through 14 games, the Blue Hose have blocked 3 shots per game (42 total) this season, which puts them tied for fourth in the conference.


Freshman Aretha Linger leads the team in blocked shots (9) for the Blue Hose in just seven games played. Her four blocked shots against Eastern Kentucky on Dec. 19 are tied for the most by any player in the Big South this season. Boyd has logged eight blocks, while Daniella Velez is third on the team with five blocked shots. For the season, 12 of PC's 13 players have blocked a shot for the Blue Hose.

 


SCOUTING THE LANCERS
Saturday's contest will be Longwood's first game of Big South play. The Lancers come into the game with a 9-4 overall record and a three-game win streak. Longwood took care of UNC Wilmington at home in its last outing, defeating the Seahawks 98-72 on Dec. 21. Amor Harris powers the Lancers' offense, scoring 13.3 points per game while drilling 17 three-pointers as well. Five Lancers contribute at least eight points per game for the highest scoring offense in the Big South (79.8 points per game). Longwood also leads the conference from beyond the arc and the free throw line, making 36.0 percent of its threes and shooting 74.5 percent from the charity stripe. Head coach Erika Lang-Montgomery is in her fourth season at the helm for Longwood.

 


PRESBYTERIAN – LONGWOOD ALL-TIME SERIES
The Blue Hose control the all-time series with the Lancers, winning 18 of the 32 total matchups. Longwood took both meetings last season after the Blue Hose had won each of the previous three. In last year's matchup in Farmville, Shelby Fiddler led all scorers with 16 points, only one point short of her career-high. Aminata Tal added 14 points as well on 5-of-8 shooting for the Blue Hose. 

 


BLUE HOSE ROSTER
Joining the Blue Hose this season are nine newcomers (four transfers and five freshmen). The transfers for Coach Sardin are Ore Ogunwolere (Union College), Ja'Cia Cunningham (Chicago State), Krystal Haddock (Tennessee State), and Laetitia Kamdoum (Cochise College).

Freshmen Aretha Linger, Yolanda Floyd, Allie Sykes, Samantha Mullock, and Amani Williams also join the Blue Hose. This is the most freshmen the Blue Hose have had on the roster since the 2022-23 season (also five).

 
The Blue Hose also return four from last year's roster. Seniors Shelby Fiddler and Aminata Tal lead the returners for PC. Sophomores Morgan Boyd and Daniella Velez also are back for the Blue Hose this season.
 

 

BIG SOUTH SCHEDULE
Conference play begins December 31 for the Blue Hose, with PC set to take on each of its eight Big South opponents twice in a balanced home-and-away schedule.


At Templeton, PC will face Radford on Dec. 31, High Point on Jan. 7, UNC Asheville on Jan. 17, Charleston Southern on Jan. 24, USC Upstate on Feb. 4, Gardner-Webb on Feb. 14, Winthrop on Feb. 18, and Longwood on Feb. 28.


On the road, the Blue Hose will take on Longwood on Jan. 3, USC Upstate on Jan. 14, Gardner-Webb on Jan. 21, Winthrop on Jan. 28, High Point on Jan. 31, Charleston Southern on Feb. 7, UNC Asheville on Feb. 21, and Radford on Feb. 25.
