Rahl Brings in Caden Coulson as Tight Ends Coach / Recruiting Coordinator

CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College football head coach Matt Rahl has revealed another new piece to the Blue Hose staff, hiring Caden Coulson to become PC's Tight Ends coach and Recruiting Coordinator.

Announced on Thursday morning, Coulson comes to Clinton after spending the 2025 season at Highland Community College in Kansas. He performed multiple duties there, being the Offensive Coordinator, Quarterbacks coach, Offensive Line coach, and Strength & Conditioning coach.

Coulson was a student-athlete at Missouri Southern State while Rahl was the Associate Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator. Presbyterian will be his third FCS staff since graduation.

Commented Rahl, "I have known Coach Coulson for a number of years, first as a player, then a student-assistant for me. I've enjoyed watching his career take off in a short period of time and am extremely excited to add someone with his enthusiasm and work ethic to our staff."

Highland CC (2025)

- In his lone season at Highland Community College, Coulson directed two All-Jayhawk Conference players: running back TJ Porter and wide receiver Demitrius Alexandre.

- Alexandre led the KJCCC with 45 catches and ranked eighth nationally in that department. Porter compiled 652 all-purpose yards on the year, placing fifth in the league. He rushed for four touchdowns and also threw a pass to the end zone too.

- Coulson recruited student-athletes to Highland from Wisconsin, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Texas, and Arizona.

Utah Tech & Northern Arizona (2023-24)

- Before his gig at Highland CC, Coulson helped the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks to the FCS Playoffs as an Assistant Offensive Line Coach in 2024.

- NAU went 6-2 against Big Sky opponents in Coulson's lone campaign, obtaining an at-large bid to the Playoffs thanks to a season-closing five-game winning streak.

- It was Northern Arizona's first postseason appearance in seven years, knocking off #10 Sacramento State along the way and winning their last five by an average margin of 19 points.

- The Lumberjacks never lost at home that year, ranked just outside the nation's top 30 in rushing yards per game (180), and center Jonny Bottoroff was voted all-conference Second Team.

- Prior to NAU, Coulson was also an Assistant Offensive Line Coach at Utah Tech for the 2023 season. The Trail Blazers allowed the fewest sacks of any team in the UAC (six).

- Interestingly, Coulson's first win at Utah Tech came over Northern Arizona, soon to be his next stop. UTU would grab another victory over Stephen F. Austin in a 37-31 thriller.

Playing Career (Ellsworth CC & Missouri Southern State)

- From January to July of 2023, Coulson got his start in the coaching realm at the place where he received his bachelor's degree, Missouri Southern State.

- During the offseason immediately after his playing days, Coulson assisted in coaching running backs and helped evaluate that position during practice.

- He spent his last three seasons of eligibility playing for Rahl and the Lions from 2020-22, competing at the fullback position and being chosen for the MIAA Academic Honor Roll thrice.

- Coulson first played offensive line at Ellsworth Community College, named an NJCAA All-America Honorable Mention as a freshman in 2019 before then transferring to Missouri Southern State.

A native of Dubuque, Iowa, Caden received his degree from MSSU in the field of Finance.
