LAST TIME OUT –  Presbyterian picked up its third straight win with an 87-83 victory over Charleston Southern in the Templeton Center this past Wednesday. All five PC starters scored in double figures, led by 21 points from redshirt senior forward Jonah Pierce and 20 points from junior guard Carl Parrish. Redshirt junior forward Jaylen Peterson tallied a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore guard Josh Pickett scored 17 points. Sophomore guard Triston Wilson rounded out PC's double-figure scorers with 12 points. Redshirt freshman forward Chidi Chiakwelu blocked four shots in the win. Presbyterian finished the game with an 18-3 advantage in fast break points.
 
OPENING TIP
INSIDE THE STAT SHEET – Pierce leads the Blue Hose in scoring at 16.0 points per game while averaging 20.0 points per game in Big South play. Pierce leads the Big South and ranks 29th in the nation in rebounding at 9.4 boards per game. Pierce is 13th in the nation with a Big South leading ten double-doubles. Parrish is second on the team in scoring at 13.8 points per game while connecting on a team-high 52 three-point field goals this season. Ten PC players have knocked down at least one three-point field goal this season. Peterson is second on the team in rebounding at 7.3 rebounds per contest while averaging 10.2 points per game. Wilson ranks amongst the Big South leaders, averaging a team-leading 3.6 assists per game. Wilson has dished out at least five assists in seven games this season. Wilson averages 9.2 points per game. Pierce, Peterson, and Chiakwelu average around a blocked shot per game. Pierce ranks fourth in the Big South at 1.3 blocked shots per game. Chiakwelu is fifth in the Big South at 1.3 blocked shots per game. As a team, Presbyterian is shooting 47.4 percent from the field while averaging 71.8 points per game.
 
NCAA RANKINGS - Presbyterian ranks second in the Big South in scoring defense after limiting its opponents to 69.9 points per game. The Blue Hose are second in the Big South and 62nd in the nation in rebounding margin, averaging 5.1 rebounds per game more than its opponents. Jonah Pierce ranks first in the Big South and 13th in the nation with ten double-doubles. Pierce also leads the Big South and ranks 29th in the nation averaging 9.4 rebounds per game.
 
BIG SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Pierce was named Big South Player of the Week (January 19) after averaging 22 points and 12 rebounds in Presbyterian's wins over UNC Asheville and Gardner-Webb. Pierce is the 13th different PC player to earn Player of the Week honors in the program's history.
 
BLOCKED SHOTS - Chiakwelu recorded six blocked shots against Wofford (December 3), which is tied for the highest single-game total in Presbyterian's DI era. Chiakwelu posted four blocked shots in the win over Charleston Southern (January 23). Peterson has also posted six blocked shots in a game in his career. Peterson accomplished that feat at Winthrop last season (January 29, 2025). 
 
DOUBLE DIGIT BOARDS – Pierce has grabbed double-figure rebounds 12 times this season. He corralled 13 rebounds against Navy (November 3) and ETSU (November 8). He recorded 14 rebounds at Sacramento State (November 16) and at Wofford (December 3).  In Presbyterian's win over Morehead State (December 6), he tallied 16 rebounds. At Manhattan (December 21), he grabbed 11 boards. In Presbyterian's last game in the win over Truett McConnell (December 28), he grabbed 11 rebounds. In the win over USC Upstate (January 3), he collected 12 rebounds. At Radford (January 7), Pierce recorded 11 rebounds. At Longwood (January 10), he grabbed 10 rebounds.  In the win over UNC Asheville (January 14), he recorded 11 rebounds. In the win at Gardner-Webb (January 17), he grabbed 13 rebounds. Peterson has tallied six double-figure rebound games. He grabbed 10 rebounds against Navy (November 3), 17 rebounds against Bluefield (January 5), 11 rebounds at South Carolina (November 12), 10 rebounds vs. Truett McConnell (December 28), 13 rebounds against USC Upstate (January 3), and 10 rebounds in the win over Charleston Southern (January 21).
 
FIVE DOUBLE-FIGURE SCORERS - In Presbyterian's 80-72 win over Morehead State (December 6), five PC players scored in double-figures, which marked the first time since a home win over Virginia-Lynchburg on December 18, 2024, that Presbyterian had at least five players score in double-figures in a game. In the win over Morehead State, Presbyterian's five double-figure scorers were: Parrish (18 pts.), Wilson (17 pts.), Pickett (12 pts.), Pierce (11 pts.), and Khalon Hudson (11 pts.).
 
In the Blue Hose's win over Charleston Southern (January 21), Presbyterian also had five double-figure scorers: Pierce (21 pts.), Parrish (20 pts.), Pickett (17 pts.), Wilson (12 pts.), and Jaylen Peterson (11 pts.).
 
PC COACH QUINTON FERRELL - Quinton Ferrell is in his seventh season as the head coach of his alma mater, Presbyterian College. Ferrell, a former Blue Hose team captain and a 2007 PC graduate, is one of 51 coaches in the NCAA Division I ranks who are coaching their alma mater.
 
PRESBYTERIAN-WINTHROP SERIES – Saturday's game will be the 50th meeting between Presbyterian and Winthrop, with Winthrop leading the series, 35-14. Presbyterian's last win at home over Winthrop was a 99-91 victory, January 26, 2019.  Winthrop beat PC, 81-77, in their last matchup in the Templeton Center, February 19, 2025. Former Blue Hose standouts Kobe Stewart and Kory Mincy scored 18 points apiece in that game. Parrish scored 12 points.

WINTHROP – The Eagles enter the game on a six-game winning streak with wins over Gardner-Webb, Charleston Southern, USC Upstate, High Point, UNC Asheville, and Radford. Winthrop ranks second in the Big South in scoring offense, averaging 84.9 points per game. Senior center Logan Duncombe is fifth in the Big South in scoring, averaging 17.3 points per game, and second in the league in rebounding, averaging 8.2 boards per game.
