The Presbyterian Blue Hose (1-0) have a busy week with two matches beginning with a home match against the Queens Royals (0-1) at the Templeton Tennis Courts on Thursday, January 29, at 1 p.m. Presbyterian concludes the weekend at the Charlotte 49ers (2-0) on Sunday, February 1, at 1:30 p.m. at Lifetime Fitness in south Charlotte. Presbyterian's road match at the Furman Paladins scheduled for this Saturday, January 31, has been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 31, at 3 p.m.
A LOOK AT THE BLUE HOSE

David Mamalat and sophomores
Daksh Prasad and
Eduardo Valentin. Joining those three returners are newcomers junior
Matija Samardzic, sophomore
Gabriel Godoy, and freshmen
Thomas Anderson,
Victor Mayer, and
Dario Navarro. This fall, Mamalat and Samardzic captured the doubles title at the Big South Individual Championship and advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITA Conference Masters Championship. Every Blue Hose posted singles and doubles wins during the fall's tournament season.
LAST TIME OUT
Presbyterian began the season with a 7-0 win over Emmanuel at the Templeton Tennis Courts on Tuesday, January 20. Presbyterian posted wins at number one and two doubles to capture the doubles point. PC swept the six singles matches in the victory, with five of the matches decided in straight sets.
HOME OPENING MATCH
Last week's match against Emmanuel marked Presbyterian's first home match of the season. With the win, the Blue Hose have won their home opening match in nine of the last ten years.
BIG SOUTH PRESEASON POLL
Presbyterian was picked to finish third in the preseason Big South coaches poll. Longwood was picked to win the Big South title in the preseason poll.
In Presbyterian's men's tennis program's history, the Blue Hose have captured three Big South regular-season titles (2014, 2017, and 2023) and three Big South Tournament titles (2017, 2021, and 2023).
SCOUTING QUEENS
The Blue Hose have won the three previous matchups between PC and Queens, including a 5-2 win on the road last season, January 31, 2025. Prasad and Valentin collected wins in that match for the Blue Hose. The Royals enter the match after a 7-0 loss at North Carolina on January 20.
SCOUTING CHARLOTTE
Charlotte has won nine of the last 11 meetings between PC and Charlotte. Charlotte beat Presbyterian, 6-1, at home in their latest matchup, March 29, 2024. Mamalat collected a straight sets win at number four singles in that match. Charlotte plays fellow Big South Conference team Gardner-Webb on Friday before facing the Blue Hose on Sunday. Entering Friday's match, Charlotte has a 2-0 record with wins over Samford and VCU. Massimo Pizzigoni and Vasco Prata have both won their first two singles matches of the season.
