LAST TIME OUT
The Blue Hose dropped their first road matchup of conference play at Longwood 89-56 on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 3) at the Joan Perry Brock Center.
Krystal Haddock and Morgan Boyd led all scorers for the game, scoring a combined 34 points for the afternoon. Haddock scored a game-high 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field. Boyd poured in 16 points for the Blue Hose, making 8-of-12 free throws for the game.
BLUE HOSE BY THE NUMBERS
Senior Aminata Tal leads the Presbyterian offense going into Wednesday, averaging 9.3 points per game. She sits in the top 20 of the Big South in scoring. She leads the team in field goals made on the season with 55 and has started seven games this season for the Blue Hose. She is also second on the team in free throws made this year with 25. Senior Ja'Cia Cunningham is the second-leading scorer for PC coming into Wednesday's contest, averaging 8.9 points per game. She has started in Presbyterian's last three games and is second in field goals made with 50.
Ore Ogunwolere powers the Blue Hose on the year in assists (35), ranking tied for 10th in the Big South. She is also second on the team in steals (21) and field goal percentage (40.7 percent). Daniella Velez leads PC in steals this season with 22.
Freshman Allie Sykes paces the team from both the three-point line and free throw line this season. She has made 22 total three-pointers, which ranks tied for 12th in the league. She has made 16 of her 18 free throw attempts as well for the Blue Hose.
Sophomore Morgan Boyd is the only player to start all 15 games for Presbyterian. She leads the team in rebounding and minutes played, averaging 5.1 rebounds per game while playing 381 total minutes this year. She is shooting 38.5 percent from beyond the arc as well, making 5 of her 13 three-point attempts. Finally, she is second on the team in blocked shots with 8.
Freshman Aretha Linger has delivered a productive first season for the Blue Hose. She leads the team in blocked shots with nine in just seven games played. She is also second on the team in rebounding (4.3 per game) and leads the team in field goal percentage shooting 41.7 percent from the floor.
CAREER-HIGHS
Krystal Haddock and Morgan Boyd each had career games against Longwood in PC's last outing. Haddock scored a career-high 18 points to lead all scorers. Boyd poured in a career-high 16 points for PC, making 8-of-12 free throws on the afternoon (both career-highs as well).
Haddock tied her career-high on the glass against the Lancers, grabbing eight rebounds to lead the Blue Hose.
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
High Point picked up two victories last week to open conference play. The Panthers overcame an early deficit to defeat USC Upstate 72-58 on Saturday (Jan. 3). On the season, the Panthers have a 13-2 overall record and enter Wednesday on a three-game winning streak. Macy Spencer and Aaliyah Collins are the top two leading scorers in the Big South, averaging 18.3 and 17.7 points per game respectively. They have earned a combined five Big South Player of the Week honors this season. As a team, the Panthers are second in the league in both scoring offense and defense. High Point leads the conference in field goal percentage, shooting 45.9 percent from the field. Chelsea Banbury leads the Panthers in her seventh season as the head coach.
PRESBYTERIAN – HIGH POINT ALL-TIME SERIES
The Panthers lead the all-time series with the Blue Hose 30-8. High Point won both meetings last season and has won seven of the past eight matchups overall. PC's last victory over the Panthers came in the Big South semifinals on Mar. 9, 2024. The Blue Hose last defeated High Point in Clinton in 2021.
BLUE HOSE ROSTER
Joining the Blue Hose this season are nine newcomers (four transfers and five freshmen). The transfers for Coach Sardin are Ore Ogunwolere (Union College), Ja'Cia Cunningham (Chicago State), Krystal Haddock (Tennessee State), and Laetitia Kamdoum (Cochise College).
Freshmen Aretha Linger, Yolanda Floyd, Allie Sykes, Samantha Mullock, and Amani Williams also join the Blue Hose. This is the most freshmen the Blue Hose have had on the roster since the 2022-23 season (also five).
The Blue Hose also return four from last year's roster. Seniors Shelby Fiddler and Aminata Tal lead the returners for PC. Sophomores Morgan Boyd and Daniella Velez also are back for the Blue Hose this season.
