Burleson Bullies His Way to PFL Offensive Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Fifth-year running back Jackson Burleson of the Presbyterian College football team has given the Blue Hose their third PFL Offensive Player of the Week award of the 2026 season, being chosen for the honor on Sunday after a helter-skelter win at Stetson.

In a game that saw 51 combined points in the 4th quarter and six lead changes in the last eight minutes, Burleson set a new career-high with 171 all-purpose yards and three total touchdowns.

Each of PC's last two drives ended with Burleson crossing the plane, including the game-winning TD with 19 seconds left which cemented the third straight league win for the Blue Hose.

One of two Pioneer Football League teams with three conference wins at this stage of the season, head coach Matt Rahl's club now owns the best record of anyone in the PFL over their last 16 conference games (13-3).

Burleson POTW

BURLESON THE BULLDOZER

- A native of Sacramento who transferred to Presbyterian from Central State University, Burleson has been a machine in back-to-back wins over Davidson and Stetson.

- He has logged 307 all-purpose yards and six touchdowns in those contests, touching the ball 28 times against the Hatters as he rushed for 103 and added 68 more in the passing attack.

- Burleson was instrumental down the stretch as both teams exchanged big blows, getting a 45-yard gain which set PC up for their second-to-last touchdown with 2:18 on the clock.

- He caught a 23-yard TD midway through the 3rd, combining for 10 touches that either moved the chains or reached the end zone.

- On the season, sixty percent of Burleson's all-purpose yards have occurred in the last two games. He carried the torch for an offense that surpassed 500 total yards for the third time this year, helping PC score either a touchdown or a field goal on all but one of their seven second-half drives.

POTW HISTORY

- This is the first time since Presbyterian joined the PFL in 2020 that they've received three Offensive Player of the Week honors in the same campaign.

- Quarterback Landon Sharpe was also selected for this award following the season-opener against UVA Wise and a momentous league triumph over St. Thomas two weeks ago.

- The Blue Hose have been chosen for at least one Offensive Player of the Week award in five of their seven seasons with the Pioneer League.

LOOKING AHEAD

- Presbyterian looks to stay in the mix for the PFL championship with four games ahead of them, staying on the road for a visit to Valparaiso next Saturday at 1:00 eastern standard time.

- The Beacons took down three-time defending conference champ Drake two weeks ago and were named the FCS National Team of the Week as a result, but were brought back down to Earth with a 38-13 loss to San Diego on Saturday.

- Valparaiso came to Bailey Memorial Stadium last season and suffered a 43-14 pounding, part of what is now a PC school-record 11-game home winning streak.
