LAST TIME OUT
Presbyterian suffered a 62-50 loss at home on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 14) at the Templeton Center.

 

Freshmen Amani Williams and Yolanda Floyd scored in double-figures, as the Blue Hose battled but came up short. Williams and Floyd scored 10 points apiece. Ja'Cia Cunningham scored nine points, and Aminata Tal chipped in with eight points. 

 


BLUE HOSE BY THE NUMBERS
Senior Ja'Cia Cunningham continues to lead the Blue Hose offensively, averaging 11.0 points per game. She has scored at least 20 points three times this season and has reached double figures 13 times. She ranks 12th in the league in scoring. Aminata Tal has delivered for PC offensively as well, scoring 9.0 points per game as PC's second-leading scorer. She is second on the team in made field goals with 91. She has also been disruptive on the defensive end for PC, ranking second on the team in steals (34).


Junior Ore Ogunwolere has had a productive first season with the Blue Hose, leading the team in several different categories going into Wednesday. She leads the team in assists (58), steals (51), and minutes per game (30.0). She is fifth in the league in steals per game (2.1) and ranks 10th in assists. Sophomore Daniella Velez is second on the team in assists (35). 


Freshman Allie Sykes powers Presbyterian from distance and the free throw line going into Saturday. She has buried 28 threes entering Wednesday night, also making 21 of her 23 total free throw attempts (91.3 percent). 

Sophomore Krystal Haddock paces the Blue Hose on the glass. She leads PC in rebounding, grabbing 5.6 boards per game. She has posted two double-doubles (the only two for any PC player this season) while also reaching double-digit rebounds three times.



CAREER-HIGHS
Several Blue Hose players have had career-highs in conference play this year. In PC's last game against Gardner-Webb on Feb. 14, Yolanda Floyd and Amani Williams both scored a career-high 10 points. Against USC Upstate on Feb. 4, Ja'Cia Cunningham had a career day from the free throw line, making 13 of her 17 attempts (both career-highs). Daniella Velez also tied her career-highs against the Spartans in scoring (11 points) and three-pointers made (three). In Presbyterian's 50-46 Big South victory over Gardner-Webb on Jan. 21, Aminata Tal tied her career-high with nine made field goals. Ore Ogunwolere recorded a career-high eight rebounds for the Blue Hose against the Runnin' Bulldogs. She also tied her career-high in assists with six. 



NEW PROGRAM RECORD
Krystal Haddock delivered a record-breaking performance against Charleston Southern on Jan. 23. She grabbed a single-game program record 12 offensive rebounds against the Buccaneers, shattering the previous record of nine. For her efforts, she was named PC Student-Athlete of the Week on Jan. 27.



SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Winthrop enters Wednesday night's contest with a 12-15 overall record and a 5-8 mark in Big South play. The Eagles ended a four-game losing streak on Saturday at home against Longwood, winning 75-65. Amourie Porter powers Winthrop, ranking fourth in the conference in scoring at 15.9 points per game. She also is one of the best rebounders in the league, averaging 6.8 per game. As a team, Winthrop is third in the league in scoring, averaging 66.0 points per game. Head coach Semeka Randall Lay is in her sixth season with the Eagles.

 


PRESBYTERIAN – WINTHROP ALL-TIME SERIES
Winthrop controls the all-time series with the Blue Hose, boasting a 28-17 record. The Eagles have won each of the last three meetings, including picking up a 74-42 victory on Jan. 28 in Rock Hill. The Blue Hose last took down the Eagles on Feb. 21, 2024 at the Templeton Center.

 


BLUE HOSE ROSTER
Joining the Blue Hose this season are nine newcomers (four transfers and five freshmen). The transfers for Coach Sardin are Ore Ogunwolere (Union College), Ja'Cia Cunningham (Chicago State), and Krystal Haddock (Tennessee State).

Freshmen Aretha Linger, Yolanda Floyd, Allie Sykes, Samantha Mullock, and Amani Williams also join the Blue Hose. This is the most freshmen the Blue Hose have had on the roster since the 2022-23 season (also five).

 
The Blue Hose also return four from last year's roster. Seniors Shelby Fiddler and Aminata Tal lead the returners for PC. Sophomores Morgan Boyd and Daniella Velez also are back for the Blue Hose this season.
