LAST TIME OUT –  Presbyterian rallied from a 14-point first half deficit for a 72-65 home win over Longwood at the Templeton Center on Thursday night. Sophomore guard Triston Wilson scored a career-high 28 points. Junior guard Carl Parrish scored 15 points. Redshirt senior forward Jonah Pierce chipped in with 13 points. Redshirt junior forward Jaylen Peterson nearly recorded a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds. Freshman guard JD Bowden came off the bench to pace the Blue Hose with five assists/.
 
OPENING TIP
INSIDE THE STAT SHEET – Pierce leads the Blue Hose in scoring at 16.4 points per game while averaging 18.7 points per game in Big South play. Pierce leads the Big South and ranks 23rd in the nation in rebounding at 9.5 boards per game. Pierce is tenth in the nation with a Big South leading 14 double-doubles. Parrish is second on the team in scoring at 14.0 points per game and 15.1 in Big South Conference games while connecting on a team-high 65 three-point field goals this season, which is tied for the ninth-highest single-season total in PC's DI era. Ten PC players have knocked down at least one three-point field goal this season. Peterson is second on the team in rebounding at 7.3 rebounds per contest while averaging 10.5 points per game. Wilson leads the Big South in assists, averaging a team-leading 3.7 assists per game. Wilson has dished out at least five assists in nine games this season. Last Saturday, Wilson dished out his 100th assist of the season, becoming the seventh player in the school's D1 era to accomplish that feat. Wilson averages 10.9 points per game. Pierce, Peterson, and redshirt freshman forward Chidi Chiakwelu average around a blocked shot per game. Peterson is tied for fourth in the Big South in blocked shots, 1.4 per game. Pierce is sixth in the Big South at 1.3 blocked shots per game. Chiakwelu is seventh in the Big South at 1.2 blocked shots per game. As a team, Presbyterian is shooting 47.5 percent from the field while averaging 71.8 points per game.
 
HOME SWEET HOME - Thursday's win over Longwood was Presbyterian's 10th home victory of the season, which is the second most wins in the Templeton Center in Presbyterian's DI era. In the 2018-19 season, Presbyterian won a school record 12 home games.
 
STATISTICAL RANKINGS - Presbyterian ranks second in the Big South and 51st in the nation in field goal percentage shooting 47.5 percent from the field. The Blue Hose are third in the Big South and 52nd in the NCAA averaging 4.4 blocks per game. Presbyterian ranks second in the Big South in scoring defense after limiting its opponents to 71.3 points per game. The Blue Hose are third in the Big South and 64th in the nation in rebounding margin, averaging 4.5 rebounds per game more than its opponents.
 
BLOCKED SHOTS - Chiakwelu recorded six blocked shots against Wofford (Dec. 3), which is tied for the highest single-game total in Presbyterian's DI era. Chiakwelu posted four blocked shots in the win over Charleston Southern (Jan. 23). Peterson has posted six blocked shots in a game twice in his career. Against Radford (Jan. 31), Peterson tallied six blocked shots. Last season, he accomplished that feat at Winthrop (Jan. 29, 2025). Against High Point (Jan. 29), Peterson recorded four blocks and Pierce collected three blocked shots.
 
PC COACH QUINTON FERRELL - Quinton Ferrell is in his seventh season as the head coach of his alma mater, Presbyterian College. Ferrell, a former Blue Hose team captain and a 2007 PC graduate, is one of 51 coaches in the NCAA Division I ranks who are coaching their alma mater.
 
DOUBLE-DIGIT BOARDS – Pierce has grabbed double-figure rebounds 17 times this season. Peterson has tallied nine double-figure rebound games.
 
1,500 CAREER POINTS - With 15:35 on the first half clock, Pierce went over the 1,500th point plateau. Pierce has scored 1,544 points in his college career. Pierce is also closing in on 1,000 career rebounds as he enters the USC Upstate game with 959 career rebounds.
 
PRESBYTERIAN-USC UPSTATE SERIES – Saturday's game will be the 41st meeting between Presbyterian and USC Upstate, with USC Upstate leading the series 21-19. USC Upstate holds an 11-5 series advantage when the game is played at USC Upstate. USC Upstate beat PC, 77-67, in their last meeting in Spartanburg, S.C., on January 8, 2025. Former Blue Hose standout guard Jamahri Harvey led the Blue Hose with 18 points in that game. Presbyterian beat USC Upstate, 86-77, at home in their first matchup this season on January 3. Pierce (29 points, 13 rebounds) and Peterson (13 points, 13 rebounds) both recorded double-doubles in the win. Wilson added 23 points while making a program DI era record 17 free throws.

USC UPSTATE – The Spartans have won eight games at home this season. Redshirt junior guard Karmani Gregory leads the Spartans in scoring at 15.5 points per game.
