ROCK HILL, S.C. – Adjusting their Saturday schedule to play just once instead of twice thanks to overnight rain, the Presbyterian College softball team fell to George Washington by a 2-0 count at Winthrop University.
Defense was the prevailing theme of PC's last outing at this particular tournament, unable to complete a sweep after getting past the Revolutionaries less than 24 hours earlier by a 5-3 margin.
The Blue Hose were able to muster just two hits, with the only runs of the afternoon occurring early on in the 2
nd inning.
Presbyterian now sits directly at .500 with 12 games finished (6-6). They'll come back to Clinton for their next sequence, hosting North Carolina A&T for a doubleheader this Wednesday. The action begins at 2:00.
FINAL SCORE: George Washington, 2 – Presbyterian, 0
RECORDS: Presbyterian (6-6) | George Washington (4-4)

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior
Avery Robinson tossed her second complete game of the semester (and already the team's sixth), having her only hiccup in the 2
nd on a two-run single.
- Thanks to a solid showing by George Washington starter Cece Smith, that's all that they needed to avenge yesterday's loss where Presby tallied four two-out scores.
-
Blair Darby and
Cierra Grice were able to squeeze in a couple hits against Smith, with
Audrey Burton and
Hali Duke both drawing walks.
- Eleven of PC's last twelve at-bats were unsuccessful in getting on-base, prompting the close loss and now making the Blue Hose 1-2 on a neutral field this year.
