Duncan Throws One-Hit Gem to Start Senior Year

CLINTON, S.C. – The 2026 Presbyterian College softball campaign began with a stellar pitching demonstration by senior Peyton Duncan, retiring her first 12 batters as the Blue Hose steered past Le Moyne 2-1 on Friday night.

Giving up just a single hit all game – a solo homer in the top of the 5th – Duncan delivered her squad a slim victory in game one of four this weekend at the PC Softball Complex.

Transfer two-way player Avery Robinson picked up where Duncan left off and threw three frames of scoreless ball herself to scoop up the W.

Win number 140 at Presbyterian for Head Coach David Williams, the Blue Hose will have a short rest before playing a back-to-back tomorrow versus Western Michigan and Dayton. First pitch in that sequence is scheduled for 2:00 on Saturday.

FINAL SCORE: Presbyterian, 2 – Le Moyne, 1
RECORDS: Presbyterian (1-0) – Le Moyne (0-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED

- Clad in new pinstriped royal blue uniforms, PC drew first blood with a couple of scores in the 2nd. Catcher Logan Grice came home on a Le Moyne error, which set the stage for true freshman Ava Coggins to land a sacrifice fly that scored Morgan Farthing.

- While that would conclude the scoring for the Scotsmen, who stranded eight runners in total, the pitching performance by Duncan and Robinson was enough to start the semester at 1-0.

- Combining to face 24 batters, that duo walked just one and struck out five. Coggins' sac fly turned out to be the difference-maker, the first RBI for the rookie from Georgia.

- After the Dolphins homered in the 5th, Robinson (who had been the DP up until then) entered the game with no outs and a runner on first. She struck out her first opponent and followed that up by forcing a pop-up to short and a fly ball to left.

- Presbyterian did not let a one-out error in the 7th shake them, leaving the would-be-tying run at first base with a heads-up assist by last year's Big South All-Freshman selection Baxleigh Arnette.
