From Middle School Teammates to Blue Hose Standouts: The Brotherhood of Carl Parrish and Triston Wilson

Triston Wilson and Carl Parrish have a special connection, both on and off the basketball court. The teammates' friendship dates back before their time on the Presbyterian College Blue Hose men's basketball team. The two players first connected as teammates on an AAU basketball squad in middle school. They later both attended Miami Norland Senior High School, where they were mentored by their AAU coach, Anthony Johnson. The continuity of their playing and coaching styles throughout their athletic development has paid dividends for Carl and Triston, who feel they have an advantage over opponents. "I've already been playing with him for years, so I already know where he's going to be and what shots he's going to take," Triston noted.

Triston Wilson and Carl Parrish's chemistry has already led to significant success on the hardwood. Last season, Triston tallied two double-digit scoring games, including a season-high twenty-one points against UNC-Asheville. This year, Wilson has improved upon that total, averaging 11.1 points per game with 16 double-figure scoring games, including a career-high 28 points scoring output in a win over Longwood, as well as 113 assists for the season. Meanwhile, Parrish, who was named Honorable Mention All-Big South, is second on the team in scoring at 14.4 points per game while ranking amongst the Big South leaders in connecting on 71 three-point field goals.

Carl and Triston's friendship has supported their transition from high school to college, as well. Carl was already a student at Presbyterian College a year before Triston. Although the switch to college academics and athletics was not easy for the two student-athletes, the transition was smoother because each guy knew they would have a reliable friend on the team. Throughout their college careers, the Blue Hose players and coaches have also supported the duo while they have navigated college life. Before his freshman year, Parrish attended summer basketball practices, which "allowed [him] to get used to the coaching staff," and had the opportunity to travel to Italy with the team and play against professional Italian opponents. This made the shift to higher-paced collegiate basketball easier, while also developing the bonds between players that are necessary for success.

As Triston and Carl look to finish out the 2025-26 season strong, they rely on the connection they have developed through years of friendship to provide success on the court. Along with their personal bond, they find strength through ties to Blue Hose players and staff. Triston mentioned that PC has the potential to make a run because "we have a really close-knit group of guys this year that play well together." Team camaraderie is sure to carry the Blue Hose in the Big South Conference Tournament.
