Nate Horton

Nate Horton is in his first year as an assistant coach for the PC baseball program.

"Horton is a huge addition to the Blue Hose baseball coaching staff," said Pollock upon his hiring. "He will be charged with coaching and directing our catching corps on a daily basis.  As a former starter in our program, he knows and understands our system and will prove to be a valuable asset."

"I am truly privileged and excited about this new opportunity," Horton said. "I love PC baseball and I love the guys we have on our team.  I am looking forward to the season and watching the success of our players."

Horton backstopped the Blue Hose from 2008 through 2011 and no player has appeared or started more games or has tallied more at-bats at the Division I level for PC.

The former PC catcher compiled a .277 career average after posting a career-best .316 marker in 2011, a campaign that saw him hit home runs in back-to-back games and go on nine-game hitting streak. In his senior season, Horton drove in four runs against Navy on February 19 and picked off a crucial baserunner in the bottom of the ninth to help seal PC's historic win over Clemson on March 16.

Horton ended his career with 13 home runs and 103 runs batted in, one of only a handful of players to crack the 100 RBI plateau in PC's young Division I history. The Spartanburg, S.C. native also improved his fielding percentage throughout his career, concluding with a .982 career tally.

In the fall of 2011, Horton coached a travel team in Greenville, S.C.

Horton graduated from PC in 2011 with a degree in history.
