The Blue Hose new linebackers coach comes to Presbyterian after spending four years at Florida Tech in the roles of Co-Defensive Coordinator, inside linebackers, defensive assistant/linebackers and defensive line. He got his start in coaching at Indiana State primarily working with the linebackers.
In his last coaching stop at Florida Tech, Archie led the inside linebackers and defensive line from 2018-20 as he led the inside linebackers room and coordinated the teams run defense during those seasons. He developed talent and knowledge of the inside linebackers and daily film study and drill work. He collaborated with the co-defensive coordinator on weekly gameplan and in-game adjustments. He coached an All-GSC Linebacker in Evan Thompson.
He was assistant linebackers coach in 2017-18 as he led the linebacker room for both inside and outside linebackers. He led the defensive line room in the spring of 2019. He helped coordinate pass defense which allowed 163.9 yards per game. He coached All-GSC Linebacker JT Hassell who signed as an undrafted free agent with the Cleveland Browns.
Prior to his time at Florida Tech, he spent four years as a defensive assistant working with the linebackers at Indiana State. He worked detecting offensive run tendencies in the press box during games and assisted with in-game adjustments and controlled substitutions. He organized and coached the scout teams for offense and special teams. He helped lead the team to first playoff berth in 30 years. He coached two all-americans, four All-MVFC and two all-newcomer MVFC.
In his playing career, he played four years at linebacker at Indiana State and totaled 428 tackles which was a new Indiana State school record, also by being named an all-league player during each of his four seasons. He was a two-year team captain. He finished his career for the Sycamores in 2012, led the team with 10 TFL's, four PBU, a quarterback hurry and a forced fumble. He was named to first-team All-MVFC in 2011 & 2012. Archie was named to the MVFC All-Newcomer Team as a redshirt freshman in 2009 and was also an All-MVFC First -Team selection at linebacker as he was an All-American in the 2012 season.
