David Dunagan

David Dunagan begins his seventh season as an assistant coach with the Blue Hose, coaching linebackers and the special teams.

In 2015, Dunagan helped PC to a 6-5 record, the program’s first winning season since 2007 and its first-ever in the Big South. The defense shut down foes and led to Blue Hose ranked wins over No. 12 Furman and No. 22 Charleston Southern and the team's two road wins stand as the most since three in 2007.

Against FCS competition, PC finished with a 5-2 record and its only two losses came to FCS playoff teams Coastal Carolina and Liberty. PC's defense set new school Division I records in nearly every category, including total offense yards (4163), opponent points scored (270), opponent touchdowns (36) and opponent total offense per game (378.5 yards). Those records come in a season that saw the Blue Hose play three FBS teams and against FCS competition, PC allowed only 15.9 points and 310.0 total offense yards per game. The Blue Hose also finished the season with the nation's second-ranked red zone defense.

Blue Hose defensive players earned four weekly awards in 2015, including the entire defense recieving the Big South Defensive Player of the Week award for PC's win over Western Carolina. Defensive back Ed Britt and linebacker Donelle Williams also earned First Team All-Big South honors in 2015 as well.

A former standout for the Blue Hose on the gridiron, Dunagan helped the team record 14 sacks on the year and 51 tackles for loss, including a team-high eight by lineman Brian Leonardi. Under Dunagan's influence, Derek Brown was second on the team with 60 tackles while Leonardi was fourth with 51.

Dunagan had his best season in a Blue Hose uniform during his redshirt-freshman campaign in PC’s South Atlantic Conference championship season of 2005. The Gainesville, Ga., native finished the year with 65 total tackles, three sacks and six tackles-for-loss. Dunagan was a solid contributor throughout his time in a Blue Hose uniform, finishing his career with 114 total tackles in 34 games with the Blue Hose.

Dunagan married the former Catherine Bankhead in June of 2008. Bankhead is a former Blue Hose women’s tennis player.
