Kenny Starr

Kenny Starr is in his second season as Presbyterian's men's basketball program's video coordinator. Starr joined the Blue Hose coaching staff after serving as a student manager for the University of Pittsburgh men’s basketball program for five years.
  
“Kenny has experience in a variety of roles, which will allow him to impact our program in numerous ways,” said Presbyterian head coach Quinton Ferrell.  “Kenny is a smart and passionate up-and-coming young coach. I’m thrilled to have him as a member of our program.”

In his first season on the Blue Hose coaching staff (2024-25), Starr helped the Blue Hose earn the program’s third postseason tournament bid in the DI era with a berth in the CBI. The Blue Hose recorded seven Big South Conference wins, which was tied for the fourth most Big South wins in school history. Presbyterian earned the fifth seed in the Big South Tournament, which was the highest Big South Tournament seed in the program’s history. Presbyterian was recognized for its hard work in the classroom by earning the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award for the first time in school history.

In the summer of 2025, Starr had the opportunity to be a member of the DuBois Dream staff as they competed for $1 Million in The Basketball Tournament (TBT) in Charleston, WV. Starr joined a staff of Michael Lamberti (West Liberty University), Jake Perrin (Lake Erie College), and Greg Bearer (West Liberty University) in competition against Best Virginia (WVU Alumni) where they suffered a 72-69 loss after overcoming a 17 point deficit to take the lead during the Elam Ending. Some notable players on this team included All-CAA First Team selection Dalton Bolon (College of Charleston/West Liberty), D2 All-American Jordan Hinds (Bluefield State), and D2 National Champions Tyler Eberheart, Isaiah Fuller, Shane Hunter, and Ryker Cisarick (Nova Southeastern).

Before joining Presbyterian’s coaching staff, he was a student manager at Pitt from 2019 to 2024. In this role, he assisted with day-to-day operations, video scouting and analytics, skill development, and on-campus recruiting. At Pitt, he played a role in the development of All-ACC players Jamarius Burton, Blake Hinson, and Bub Carrington as well as ACC Sixth Man of the Year winners Ishmael Leggett and Nike Sibande.
  
In 2024, the Clearfield, Pennsylvania native graduated from Pitt with a bachelor’s degree in data methods and language in healthcare and a minor in Swedish.
