British Hyrams

Reverend Dr. British Hyrams

Rev. Dr. L. “British” Hyrams is currently in her third season as the Presbyterian College (PC) Men's Basketball character coach. She also serves as the Associate Chaplain for all students at the college. Affectionately called "Dr. Rev. or Rev.," Hyrams is a meaningful addition to the holistic approach to player development as envisioned by Coach Ferrell, caring for the mind, body, and spirit of the players. In addition, Hyrams is intentional in providing encouragement to other student athletes on campus - who make up roughly half of the undergraduate enrollment. Her effort and impact on campus was recognized by the student body at Homecoming 2025 when she was voted "Mrs. Blue Hose" - a female faculty or staff member who portrays the true spirit of Presbyterian College in the work that they do.

Prior to her role at PC, she was the Presbyterian Campus Minister at North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC and served as an associate pastor in Charlotte area churches. Hyrams also has experience as an adjunct Math instructor at the community college level that followed her corporate career in Information Technology project management for health care organizations.

Hyrams' educational background is diverse. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University. She holds two master’s degrees from Union Presbyterian Seminary: a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) and a Master of Arts in Christian Education (M.A.C.E.). Hyrams completed her Doctor of Ministry degree at Duke Divinity School. She is ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the PCUSA.

Hyrams is married to her college sweetheart, Kevin. Together they love, encourage, and cherish their three adult children: Jamal, Akilah, and Aman.
