The 2022 season was the 10th season for Korrinn Burgess as the head coach of the Presbyterian College volleyball team. She took over the program on Jan. 23, 2013.
In 2022, PC earned a pair of Freshman of the Week’s for Anna Baranski and a Player of the Week for Kasey Battle. Anna Hewitt became the sixth player in the Blue Hose DI era to eclipse 1,000 digs. Rylee Moorhead earned All-Big South Honorable Mention and Paige Cairns earned her second straight All-Academic Team Award. The Blue Hose as a team tallied 179 aces which ranks third in the Blue Hose DI record book.
The 2021 season saw PC total 12 victories and make the conference tournament for the second straight season under Burgess. PC had three all-conference honorees following the 2021 season. Erin Cooke earned her third straight year of second team All-Big South, while Rylee Moorhead was named to the all-freshman team. Paige Cairns earned the team's All-Academic Team award. Cooke became the fifth player in the DI era to record 1,000 kills at PC as she also tied the NCAA lead in 2021 with eight triple-doubles.
The 2020 season was shifted to the spring of 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and saw the Blue Hose bring home three All-Conference honors. Erin Cooke was named Second Team All-Big South for the second straight year, Anna Hewitt finished second in the Big South in both total digs and digs/set to earn a spot on the All-Freshman Team and Trinity Williams was selected to the conference's All-Academic Team for the second year in a row.
The 2019 season marked the fourth straight campaign that PC increased its win total over the prior season, as the Blue Hose collected 15 wins, the highest total in Burgess' tenure. After they were selected to finish eighth in the Big South preseason poll, the Blue Hose went 8-6 in conference play to finish in fourth place and book their first trip to the Big South Conference Championship since 2014. PC won its first conference tournament match since 2012, sweeping five seed UNC Asheville in the quarterfinals. The Blue Hose had four players earn a total of six conference honors, with Erin Cooke and Erin Eulitz earning Second Team All-Conference selections, Allie Wright garnering a spot on the Honorable Mention All-Big South Team and Trinity Williams picking up Honorable Mention, All-Tournament Team and All-Academic honors from the conference.
In 2018, Erin Cooke earned a spot on the Big South All-Freshman Team, tied for second in the nation with four triple-doubles, led the Blue Hose in kills, and finished second on the squad in assists. Sydney De Jong placed among the top-4 in the conference in hitting percentage, total blocks and blocks per set, while Daley Gosnell ranked second in the league in service aces.
The 2017 season saw Allie Wright earn a spot on the Big South All-Freshman Team, while Daley Gosnell finished with the second-most digs in the conference, and Erin Eulitz ranked fifth in the league in kills.
In 2016, Samantha Del Toro finished sixth in the Big South in hitting percentage, with Sierra Davis fifth in kills. Sara Rogers was third in assists, while Mikayla Register finished 10th in aces and fourth in digs.
The 2015 season saw Sara Rogers end the year 10th in the conference in assists, while Mikayla Register tied for seventh in aces and eighth in digs.
PC notched a 7-7 conference mark, fifth in the Big South, in 2014, and had Rachel Hall pick up a Second Team All-Conference spot, with Ashtin Frank earning Honorable Mention. Hall finished fourth in the league in kills, with Frank placing fourth in assists, and Mary Trimpe seventh in aces and second in digs.
Burgess' first PC team finished the 2013 season tied for fifth in the Big South standings with a 7-7 league mark. Two players earned All-Conference awards, with Andrea Barman and Mary Trimpe earning Second Team honors. Trimpe led the league in service aces and finished second in digs. Teammate Rachel Hall was ninth in kills, Ashtin Frank was sixth in assists, and Kelly Berryman was ninth in blocks.
Burgess came from SMC where she took the volleyball program to a 17-14 mark in 2012, which included a seven-match winning streak. The Pioneers qualified for postseason play in the Alabama Community College Conference.
While at SMC, she was responsible for all aspects of the program, including travel, budget, organizing and conducting practices and scheduling. She also served as the Director of the Fitness Center on campus.
Prior to a stint as an admissions counselor at Converse College, Burgess served as assistant coach/recruiting coordinator for the Clemson volleyball program. The Lake Benton, Minn., native, helped lead the Tigers to a 95-34 record in four seasons. In 2007, the Tigers finished 29-4, won the ACC Championship with a record-tying 21-1 conference mark, and made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Clemson also made the NCAA Tournament in 2008 and 2009.
During her tenure with the Tigers, Burgess handled the majority of the staff's recruiting efforts, maintaining a database of prospective student-athletes and evaluating their skills and fit with the team's needs. She also aided in opponent scouting and breaking down game film, areas where her background in computer systems was advantageous.
Assigned primarily to Clemson's outside hitters, Burgess coached Jeannette Abbott and Lia Proctor in 2007, helping Abbott earn her third All-Conference honor, and an Honorable Mention All-Region selection after posting 408 kills for the year. Burgess helped Proctor improve her hitting percentage by over 100 points from her freshman to sophomore season, and increase her kill total from 234 to 315, which ranked third on the team.
The 2006 squad finished 20-10 and third in the ACC at 15-7. Burgess coached Abbott to honorable mention All-America status that year, as Abbott posted a team-best 497 kills and led the ACC with a 4.40 kills per set average. The then-sophomore outside hitter set a program record with 1,405 total attempts, while improving her hitting percentage by nearly 20 points. Abbott earned first-team All-ACC and AVCA All-Region accolades for the season.
Before arriving at Clemson, Burgess spent the 2004 and 2005 seasons as a volunteer assistant coach with the University of Kansas volleyball team. She helped lead the Jayhawks to NCAA Tournament appearances both years, and a 34-27 combined record.
Burgess spent 2003 as an assistant volleyball coach at Allen County Community College in Iola, Kans. The Lady Red Devils reached the Final Four of the Region VI Tournament, and four student-athletes were named to the All-Conference team, with two earning All-Region honors. She also served as Assistant Director of Student Activities while at Allen County.
Burgess was a double major at Dakota State University in Madison, S.D., earning degrees in Business Administration and Computer Information Systems in May of 2003. She also played two seasons of volleyball at Dakota State and was a DAC-10 Scholar Athlete before being sidelined with an injury.
While completing her undergraduate coursework, Burgess was a student-assistant coach on the Trojan staff that took the squad to its first DAC-10 playoff appearance. Her primary responsibilities included player development and recruiting, as well as assisting with summer camps.
Burgess earned a Master of Science in Education at the University of Kansas in May of 2006.
Coach Burgess is also a club director and the recruiting coordinator for Axis Elite Volleyball Academy. She resides in Fountain Inn with her husband Greg, who is the VP of Stadium and Field Operations for the Greenville Drive. They are the proud parents of Evan (8), Jake (7) and Brynn (4).
