BLUE HOSE BLANK #25 BULLDOGS 2-0

CLINTON, SC - Sophomore midfielder Jessi Adair (Decatur, GA) tallied one goal and an assist to lead the Blue Hose to a 2-0 shutout of the #25 ranked Bulldogs of Wingate University in SAC women's soccer action Monday afternoon.

The Blue Hose took command of the match early, out shooting the Bulldogs 15-6 in the opening frame. PC got on the scoreboard at the 1:16 mark as senior forward Ashley Davies (Greenville, SC) scored off an assist from teammates Adair and senior midfielder Kim Counts (Charleston, SC) to give the Blue Hose a 1-0 lead. Counts crossed the ball to Adair who's headed the to Davies who put it into the net for a 1-0 lead.

While the first half was played on Wingate's half of the field, the second half saw the Bulldogs put pressure to even the score. PC's defense was ready and allowed only two shots on goal in the second half.

PC increased their lead to 2-0 as Adair found the back of the net off an assist from Counts, her second of the match. Adair found the back left corner of the goal just out of the reach of Bulldogs' sophomore goalkeeper Elizabeth Rogers (Raleigh, NC).

Rogers on the day was credited with 10 saves while her Blue Hose counterpart junior keeper Lara Johnson (Hilliard, OH) tallied six saves in 60 minutes of action. PC's backup keeper freshman Aimee Tatom (Irving, TX) played the last 40 minutes in goal.

PC improves to 5-3-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the SAC while the Bulldogs fall to 7-3 and 2-1 in the SAC.
