GREENEVILLE, TN - Rachel Barron had her 10th match-winning goal of the season to lead the Pioneers to their first South Atlantic Conference Tournament title in the school's history with Tusculum College's 3-0 win over Presbyterian College in the women's soccer championship match.
The Pioneers improved to 19-3, as the Blue Hose fell to 13-5-1. With 19 wins, the Pioneers have now tied the South Atlantic Conference record for most wins in a season.
Rachel Barron put Tusculum on the board when she found the back of the net off a flick from Kelsa Eschmann at the 14:36 mark. Tara Henderson served it to Eschmann in the seam for the Pioneers second goal at the 27:52 mark. Kelsa found the back of the net again with nine minutes to go in the first half as the Pioneers built a 3-0 lead at the half.
Jennie Murphy has now played 630 consecutive shutout minutes and helped lead her team to their seventh consecutive shutout and 13th of the season. The Blue Hose out shot the Pioneers 16-13. Murphy had seven saves for the Pioneers, while Lara Johnson had six saves for the Blue Hose.
