PIONEERS EDGE PRESBYTERIAN, 3-2 IN SAC WOMEN'S SOCCER ACTION

GREENEVILLE, TN - Robyn Galvin scored a pair of goals as Tusculum College defeated Presbyterian College, 3-2 in South Atlantic Conference women's soccer action, Saturday afternoon at the TC Soccer Field. The Pioneers run their winning streak to five matches, improving their record to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the league. PC falls to 2-3 overall, 1-1 in SAC play.

For Tusculum, they match a school record with their eighth consecutive home victory, while defeating the Blue Hose for the first time ever in three tries.

The Pioneers got on the board first when Galvin found the back of the net 2:19 into the match. Galvin made it 2-0 at the 17:00 mark when she knocked in a penalty kick. But PC answered with a penalty kick goal of their own, when Jessi Adair scored in the 23rd minute.

The Pioneers responded seven minutes later when freshman Rachel Barron bounced a blast off the left post into the goal to retake a two-goal advantage. Barron's goal was assisted by junior Kelsa Eschmann at the 29:06 mark, and it remained 3-1 at the half.

But in the second period, it was a furious Blue Hose attack that resulted in an early goal from Courtney Swanson, two minutes into the period. It was an even match as the shot tally was even at 18 each, with TC keeper Jennie Murphy recording 11 saves.

PC next three matches will be on the road starting Wednesday at Queens College in Charlotte, NC at 4:00 pm.
