CHARLOTTE, NC - Behind a quick offense and a tough defense visiting Presbyterian College was able to defeat Queens College 2-0 in women's soccer Tuesday afternoon.
The Blue Hose attacked from the beginning controlling the ball with precision padding and constantly testing Queens goalkeeper Sara Frye, Presbyterian finished with 49 shots on goal. However, the Blue Hose were unable to capitalize on their opportunity. This changed for the Blue Hose late in the first half, when sophomore midfielder Jessi Adair (Decatur, GA) scored on a penalty kick caused by a Queen's handball.
The second half began much like the first with Presbyterian continuing the pressure and scoring in the 62nd minute of play when senior midfielder Ashley Davies (Greenville, SC) put the Blue Hose up 2-0. The rest of the second half belonged to the PC defense who held the Royals to only four shots. Frye, the Royals goalkeeper, also added 24 saves for the game.
The Blue Hose improve to 3-3 on the season and the Royals fall to 3-4 for the year. PC returns to action on Saturday September 23 in Carson-Newman at 2:00.
