CLINTON, S.C. - The Blue Hose women's soccer team faced probably their toughest opponent of the season today. The Blue Hose never gave up though, and won 1-0 against Longwood University.
The lone goal was scored by freshman midfielder Megan Smith (Greenville, SC) who knocked in the winning goal from a pass by senior midfielder Jessi Adair (Decatur, GA) in the 57th minute. This game was not a defensive struggle by any means. Longwood out shot PC twelve to three and kept junior goal keeper Aimee Tatom (Irving, TX) busy throughout the game. Tatom only had three saves in the game but made some huge stops when the ball came into her box. Sophomore goal keeper Lindsay Naill (Alexandria, VA) of Longwood also had a tough day as she made two saves and came up with many balls that entered her box.
Presbyterian College (6-0-0) played a tough game and was on the defensive through much of the first half. Longwood University (3-2-1) continually stayed on the attack throughout the game and at times looked as if they might break away from the Blue Hose, but key defensive plays by PC kept the Lady Lancers from getting any good looks at the net. Tatom has yet to give up a goal this season with the Blue Hose defense allowing only one ball to hit the back of the net.
The Blue Hose women's soccer team will be back in action this Monday against USC Aiken at 7:00 p.m. in a non-conference game and look to keep their undefeated record against a tough Lady Pacers team.
