SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Jessi Adair scored in the 67th-minute for Presbyterian, notching the only goal in a defensive struggle as the Blue Hose defeated USC Spartanburg 1-0 in women's soccer action Wednesday night at the County university Soccer Stadium.
Presbyterian improves to 2-0 on the year, while USCS falls to 0-2.
There were only 15 total shots taken in the entire match, eight by Presbyterian. Only seven of the shots were on goal as Lindsay Allen (USCS) and Aimee Tatom (PC) each saved three shots.
Adair broke through the defensive and received a perfect through ball from Delisa Smith and delivered a shot that found the back of the net midway through the second half to put Presbyterian ahead 1-0.
USCS had two solid chances in the second half to score goals. Christine Pirinoli's shot from the right half of the box scooted just to the right of the post, ending with a goal kick. Jamie Newman also had an opportunity, but her shot also missed wide as the defense collapsed on her.
Presbyterian constantly pressured USCS, moving the ball to the Lady Rifles' side of the field throughout the match. The Blue Hose had 10 corner kicks as opposed to three for USCS.
