CHARLESTON, S.C. ? Presbyterian College scored first, but Charleston Southern scored four unanswered goals to earn a 4-1 victory over PC in women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon.
PC recorded the first goal of the day as a cross from Tricia Bryan (Pawley's Island, S.C.) eluded the reach of the CSU goalkeeper and the ball set up perfectly for Christy Howard (Lilburn, Ga.) to finish into an open net in the 13th minute.
The first CSU goal came in the 38th minute when Jen Vroman expertly picked out Emma Mattson open in a dangerous position.
The game tied 1-1 at halftime, It didn't take long for the Bucs to score their second in the beginning of the second half as a well orchestrated one-two between Rose Marie Senise and Marky Boyce resulted in the latter receiving the ball from Senise in the middle of field. Boyce confidently struck the ball between Abby Young (Charlotte, N.C.) and the lower near post to provide the Lady Bucs with a lead they would not relinquish.
The Lady Bucs would get their third and fourth goals thanks to Michelle Dennis and Mattson's second of the contest.
The Blue Hose have eight days off before next traveling for the first time in program history to Lexington, Va. to take on VMI at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21.
