Women’s Soccer Wraps Up 2026 Season at Radford

RADFORD, Va. – The Presbyterian College women's soccer team has come to the 2026 finish line, making the trek to Radford on Halloween night to conclude the season. First touch in the Commonwealth State is labeled for 7:00 PM.

PC will look to end the campaign with a positive note and stop a five-match losing skid in this series. ESPN+ will be streaming the Big South closer, signifying the 15th and final contest for the Blue Hose.

Presby has been eliminated from the 2026 postseason with a 1-6 record against league opponents. They defeated Longwood in their penultimate home match thanks to a Julija Poplašen penalty kick and were defeated by High Point in their most recent showing.

Saturday will be the last collegiate game for seniors Lyla Chadd, Emma Brown, Lucy Cartin, and Emilia Lieber. Chadd will complete an incredible statistic in Virginia, as she has never missed a chance to play in her entire career (64 games).

SCOUTING THE HIGHLANDERS

- Since 2018, Radford and longtime head coach Ben Sohrabi have captured the Big South regular season championship three times and won the league tournament four times.

- Last season was an uncharacteristic first-round exit for the Highlanders as the number five seed, currently 4th in the league standings with 12 total points this year. A Radford win plus a High Point loss to Winthrop would vault the Highlanders into the top three.

- Senior keeper Lexi Radvanyi and the rest of Radford's defense have been on a tear lately, pitching three consecutive shutouts over Gardner-Webb, Longwood, and Charleston Southern. Each of those games settled at 2-0.

- That active three-match winning streak is the longest in the league. Virginia native Ava Kertgate ranks third in the Big South with five assists, as the Highlanders have produced 57 total points.

LAST TIME OUT

- Presbyterian could not string together back-to-back conference wins after taking down Longwood, as High Point bested the Blue Hose 4-0 back on October 21.

- Three of the visitors' four goals came after halftime, piling up 16 shots in the last 45 minutes. Each score came from a different individual.

- That made PC 3-4 in games played at Martin Stadium this season. The three victories came over Longwood, Newberry (2-0), and South Carolina State (4-2).

IRON WOMAN

- The true definition of a workhorse, Chadd will hang up her Blue Hose kit after Saturday's game with statistics that few others around the conference can equal.

- A 2024 Big South All-Tournament team selection, Lyla will end her tenure with 65 games played and zero misses. Going into this weekend, she has logged a full 90-minute shift 56 times.

- Chadd has played 5,717 out of a possible 5,780 minutes since arriving on PC's campus in 2023. In other words, she has been on the field 98 percent of the time over her full four-year journey.

- She will close her PC book with the third-most minutes played in Presbyterian's Division I history (since 2007). The Blue Hose have shut out the opposition 11 times with Chadd's contributions.

SMITH SEEKS THE RECORD

- Thanks to her second brace of the season during the victory over S.C. State, sophomore Maddie Smith has now scored seven times in her first year with the program.

- That is just one away from tying the Presbyterian D-I single-season record which was set by Tori Lopez 13 years ago.

- Smith has scored once in a conference setting (the opener at UNC Asheville). Poplašen and Maddi Merryweather each have five points, both responsible for two goals and one assist.
