CLINTON, S.C. ? Presbyterian College picked up its first
positive result over a Big South Conference opponent in the 2007 season on
Saturday evening in a 0-0 tie with the Winthrop Eagles.
Erin Sinkuler (Roswell, Ga.)
was the star for the Blue Hose on the night, saving 11 Winthrop
shots in the game.
PC, who will play all seven Big South women's soccer
programs in 2007, began play in 2007 against Big South teams with two losses,
but after the Winthrop tie are now
0-2-1 on the year against league schools.
Winthrop
finished with five more shots than the Blue Hose at 21-16, but the Blue Hose
held a 5-2 advantage at the conclusion of the game in corner kicks at 5-2.
The Blue Hose are now 3-5-1
on the season, while the defending Big South Conference regular season champion
Eagles end the game 1-4-4.
The Blue Hose will next stay home for two home games in a
row for the first time this season with a game against Lincoln Memorial at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10.
PC will then close out its 2007 season with four games
against Big South opposition, beginning with a 1
p.m. contest on Saturday, Oct. 13 against Charleston
Southern in Charleston, S.C.
